  1. Looks like my BMC CCC screen had started delaminating, it's getting on now and it's time I got it replaced.

Any screen/android system recommendations? To mount in place of the existing fold out screen.

Also if there's any installers down Wellington way who could install an Android screen, or supply /install that would be sweet too.

Anyone here know where to get the proper CHF 11S  Steering fluid?

    Fcpeuro

Order two 1L cans, one for flush and the other to fill. New reservoir with filter is also cheap from fcp and worth doing.

FWIW hold revs steady at 2800 RPM, for three minutes, allows the lifters to bleed out. According to tis.

Yep works a treat, I do 3k just to be sure.

Or driving around at 50-60 in second/third if you're just commuting to give them a clean out every now and again.

Starter motor died. Is there any reason to avoid a ATL one from Schmiedmann for $200 vs buying a bosch one locally for $400 vs buying a genuine one for a million bux?

FCP euro, was $350Nz delivered during lockdown. Probably be cheaper in the Balck Friday sale tomorrow

My next diy oil service is coming up, and just looking for an affordable options to get Oil filters online as getting one locally can be abit expensive. Do you guys think the link below is a good deal? you get a 4 pack of HU816x and it'll cost $42.37nzd inc shipping and it's based in Australia. I think its a pretty good deal! 🤩

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/264897579007?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=GSMRP-JYRbC&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=rmdi2p0ptie&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I need another filter so happy to buy one off you if you buy the pack lol

Otherwise I'll get the pack, think one filter was $20NZ on fcp euro before shipping. Good deal.

Never seen so many 130i's on TM for sale - 37 at last count ???

There's usually 20-30 though that slowed down the last few months.

The free selling yesterday has brought a few out of the woodwork. That le mans blue manual in Porirua 🤦

Interesting, any thoughts on how or why they're pitted on the inside? I might be dumb on this one but I assumed any physical damage would be constrained to the exterior surface.

It's got replacement halogen bulbs inside which aren't stock, my guess is they're giving off a bit of heat and over time have slightly distorted/damaged the inside of the lens.

Or something else has got in and caused some corrosive damage, but that seems unlikely.

For the 130? Assuming so then there's no ex-BMW lens kit although there might be some Taiwanese aftermarket kits but I'd consider that unlikely due to the nature of the assembly.

They're pretty thick plastic, you can sand them back a fair way, the key is then to lacquer them with UV resistant clear and they'll stay perfect for pretty-much ever. That's a two stage process though, sanded professionally (and NOT UV coated), then take them to a paint shop for (I think) 2 pack lacquer. You can probably do both stages yourself but I'm not that brave.

    Yep for the 130.

I've seen the lenses online and had read about them being replaced.

I was going to do that myself, I have another kit with multiple levels of sandpaper here atm and then was going to buy some 2k clear. But the lens is pitted inside so figure a new lens would get the best finish.

I've got a voucher for a pro place that can do the headlights, so I might just take it there and see how it turns out if they can take a fair bit of sanding.

  10. Anyone know if this is available, or someone who does it in the Wellington region?

I've done my headlights previously with a kit and they've yellowed again, was thinking of taking them to a pro but the plastic is in rough shape and probably would be better off getting a new lens put on if that's possible.

  11. Bit of an update, have acquired more parts courtesy of FCP Euro including a new accessory belt and tensioner, replacement power steering reservoir with fluid as preventative maintenance and an oil cooler gasket kit for a slight leak from the cooler.

I haven't fitted anything yet, nor any of the pile of mechanical parts and cosmetic bits I've accumulated previously. One day 😅

Will start working on small bits with the weather improving.

But I have recently fitted new to me stock tail lights courtesy of @Angelo

At the last WOF couple months ago it passed with no issues, though noted there was water in the right tail light.

Turns out there was crack in it and some damage, not sure when that happened. Previous owner home tinted the tail lights and it hasn't aged well, I'd been planning to replace them at some point with Dark lines but they're quite hard to find.

As it so happened @Angelo had his old set of tail lights so I snagged them as an ideal replacement and they've worked a treat.

A massive improvement on the back end, really freshened up the look of the car and de-aged it. Plus no more water ingress. IMG_20221014_140410.thumb.jpg.c0232752bf3a22ee0a4e093015d316b6.jpg

  12. Have done nearly everything attached to the engine(or have parts to) except DISAs and Waterpump(already done) in less than 10k kms 🤣😭

Car had 176k on it and had been well maintained with service history for the previous 100kish kms it had been in NZ.

Shipping might be a killer though. Was looking at some lowering springs, shipping was like $220 US in itself.

Shipping price hasn't changed, was always $80-100 and it gets here in a week FedEx fully insured.

That's why you do a big order 😂
