  1. Im amazed that nobody in NZ has made fibreglass copies of various Lips and spoilers. I know you can get bonnets and bootlids but I imagine there would be plenty of buyers for an IS lip copy or even more so one of these Reiger lips.
  2. for the 740 i would mainly be looking to make sure the water is clean and green and that there are no major oil leaks. You dont really want to spend anything on it because of what its worth. And of course make sure the auto is smoooooth. Other than just change the woodgrain inside to native kauri and you all good.
  3. Hey mate! looked pretty good in the tiny photo you sent me! Rob
  4. Legend! Im off to press some buttons!. Good thing I havent run out yet So im assuming the computer range amount is not so accurate then.
  5. Afternoon, My Saffa 89 325i has the usual long range tanks fitted. I have filled it to the brim a few times however now im trying to see how accurate the gauge is. The gauge shows empty ie in the red however the range comp says i can still do 300kms. When i fill it up it says 800+ on the computer reading which seems to be accurate. Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether the bigger tank distorts the gauge or is my computers range miles out of wack or is it indeed correct? My next option is to put some fuel in the boot and drive it till its empty however I would like to avoid that. Cheers
  6. Howdy, Check out my old mans e28 535i below. Had it a few years now and in great condition. Runs very well and used to tow our race cars all over the country. He has now replaced it with a big falcon wagon so no longer needed. Very well maintained and recently had a bunch of money spent on bushes and the big service. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-283540169.htm I have also posted this in trademe discussions as I was not totally sure of the best place to put it. {edit: no you haven't i deleted it, double posting is not cool} Cheers Rob

    I.S. Lip woes

I second that! I have done quite a bit of fibreglass work before on our Lotus' and have been looking to get one of these lips...
  8. Sweet! Im in Botany however all my tools n stuff are in Albany at my Folks which is where our cars are. If it works for you maybe next weekend or something? I need to get a WOF shortly so i might get it first before the springs are done just incase. Cheers
  9. Afternoon, I have a set of lower springs to put in my 89 325i. I have recently buggered my back and tried to change them myself the other day but was in too much pain. Who on these boards can chuck them in for me and what sort of money would you charge? Cheers Rob
  10. Tauranga, Tauranga, where everyone gets a bargain!
  11. Howdy, I used to run the Classic Auctions at Turners for a while and my father for a longtime before that. They have no specialists in classic or race cars anymore hence their lack of knowledge. I have seen the car in person and was asked to find some more info on it. It appears to be a (well used) ETCC 320i from 2002-2003. As it is a etcc car it has the smaller brakes and a normal H pat gearbox. Having spoken to a few people at International motorsport who were asked to run it they think the best thing to do with it is the put in an M3 engine and enduro it. I understand the powerband is extremely small. It has no spares and some of the gear inside has been nicked ie computers etc. It looks like it may have gone on its roof at sometime and has been repaired fairly badly but I guess it is a race car after all! A huge amount of car but not cheap to run by any means. I understand that it is not able to be started. I still love it though...
  12. Have not touched the engine bay or anything. Totally stock and does not even have the usual yellow protectant on the cam cover! When I saw it I knew I just had to grab it because it was not going to sit around for long. I have the full stamped service history from new from South Africa in 1989. The first owner in South Africa brought the car here when they came to NZ in 1996 and continued the bmw servicing until recently. They then sold it not very long ago to the guy I got it off. And dont worry guys, i have some lower springs to put in it shortly : ) I have added some pics of the Elan as requested. The first one is at Pukekohe and the second is from Targa a few years ago. Im sure some of the guys on here will know the car and my old man Tony.
  13. Just introducing myself, The name is Rob and I have recently purchased an 89 325i Manual. South African build with all the fruit that goes along with them. Have owned a few E28 525's and still have an 1988 E28 535i too. Good tow car : ). Been on Targa many times in our Lotus Elan in the past and have run a few escorts in Classics. The next logical step was into an E30 for me. Front engine, rear wheel drive, plenty of torque and superb handling. And leather. Not something you get in an escort! Its totally standard so I am currently removing and adding things to make it a fun road/track day car. Found these forums to be invaluable so far and it seems there is a great bunch of people here to give advice. Hope to make it out to a meet soon. Cheers Rob
