damn seems like everyone here is not into looks but only performance...id rather have a bit of both rather than 1 extreme. Specially not extreme looks and no performance (i once saw a ad on trademe for a lancer mx with FULL evo kit including bonnet and blah blah... but 1.5 litre... !! ) And no one answered my question....What is RICE exactly? is it a 1000cc car full of performance stickers??

also what about supercharger kits? in terms of price and power? sorry about all the questions. but then again i dont want too much power that it will go sliding everytime it rains either...

well obviously i want power otherwise you think i would comtemplate spending a large amount of money just to get a whoosh sound?? I might as well hook up some sort of loud speaker to go whoosh everytime i let go of the accelerator! Anyway everyone has a right to their own likes and dislikes....and there are a lot of nice whistling sound making bovs around. but 1st on my list would be an m tech kit and suspension so some nice handling. Also yesterday was on my way home after dropping off a mate and it was raining and i took a corner in second year and the car fully went sideways and pointed at the other side of the road. There was a brand new audi station wagon coming towards me. The driver freaked out and stopped close to the curb as possible. Luckily i got it to turn the other way and stop. Didnt imagine it would do that! sh*t was pretty scary and existing. This happened to me in a silvia and a 300zx i had. was turning into a road at a traffic lite at a T junction. was turning right and it fully went sideways and did a 360 and the front left tyre went and hit the island seperating the road i was turning into. I saw the face of the lady on the other side of the road after it happened and it was like she saw a ghost! like this -> :drugs: .... loving the RWDs! :pimp:

And what about the costs?And the 1JZ-GTE is the toyota 2.5 twin turbo right? As for a 325 im just not after the extra power but ever since i have heard the blow off sound ive always wanted one! And i really like the e30 for a 16 yr old car its still so cool...! Another idea was a v8 in there somehow... if dats possible? (also a sound i like.. )

I was thinking of adding a turbo to my e30 someday. I was doing some research and found it only has 129hp? dats kinda low for a 2 litre straight 6 isnt it?? But i guess it doesnt matter that much cos couple of weeks ago my mate tried to race me with his 3L v6 diamante and i just dropped a gear and left him behind . But that thing must weigh a ton and a half . Anyway....any ideas how much id be looking at spending and how much horsepower id gain? Is it even worth doing? Thanks :thumb:

yeah i should when i get some free time. thing is very time i go to a mechanic with a problem say a noise for example the car doesnt make the noise when the mechanic is checking it out and then it does again on my way back home!

well it ticks faster with rpm so if it is i guess ill be growin old very soon...nah seriously is this the tappets?

Forgot to add the sounds comes from around the glovebox area? Least thats what it sounds like from the drivers seat. my car is a 1989 320i 4 door sedan.

Hi ive got the ticking noise as well. It only comes every now and then. Basically it starts to tick and the frequency of the ticks increases with increasing RPM until about 4000rpm when it stops. And if it ticks on the motorway in 5th gear if i drop down a gear and get it upto 4000rpm the ticking stops and so when i go back to 5th its not there either. Just wondering whether i might have the same problem? Its a bit embarassing to get the tick when there are passengers in the car...!! Is it bad to drive around with the tick (like i have been doing.... )? And it is costly to fix? Cheers, stolen.

really? To be more descriptive the noise sounds like when you tap on a table with your index finger finger nail. and you can hear it abut once a second around 2-3k rpm and then it ticks faster with increasing rpm up till about 4-5 k rpm and then it stops. If it makes the noise in 5th gear i change down gears till i get about 3-4k rpms going and it goes off and i can go back to 5th gear and the noise would be gone. The whole problem occurs only every now and then as well. Was wondering whether it might be a serious issue?

really... i was under the impression it would cos it took that long for mag and turbo to lower a car i had before... and that was changing the standard springs to lowering ones. Sorry didnt get what you said about your car...so you needed front shocks for the wof?
