  1. An E39 M5 is certainly going to have a greater value than an E60. With the limited supply of E39 M5s in NZ, manual gearbox, more stout mechanicals and (in my eyes at least) more timeless design all being contributing factors. If this car was for sale privately I’d think a price around the $45-50k range would be realistic. If this car was tidied up and well represented then $60k might be achievable. Unfortunately the days of these cars being $20-35k is long gone.
  2. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-5011566736.htm $59,990 seems a bit steep to me considering the rather tired looking interior. Appears to have all of the usual 25 year old BMW wear and tear items, including the sagging headliner, split door seal, worn steering wheel and gear knob. Dayton tyres on a special car like this are always sign of how its been taken care of. Would be a lovely car if given the TLC it deserves, especially as its the best colour, Oxford Green 🤤 Does anyone have any history on this car?
  3. Looked at XM5X in person today. It’s a bit rough around the edges. A few of the things I spotted looking over the car quickly, Door sill trims falling apart, drivers door seal split, drivers seat bluster stitching split, windscreen moulding half missing, windshield cowl perished and vanos noise is louder than I’ve heard on other E39 M5s. This car certainly has good bones but has all the usual 20 year old BMW wear and tear. Could be a very nice car with some work. Unusual in Jet Black. Think $59,999 would be fair if it was mint, but would require some $ to get it there.
  4. Anthracite Metallic E39 M5 currently listed on Trade Me. Tidy looking car but I personally think $68,999 is a bit steep. Was previously for sale on this form in 2014 for $26,500 and in 2017 for $28,000. How times have changed. 5. Spotted this Volvo bus fitted with E39 facelift headlights. A rather expensive choice of headlights for a bus.
  6. Hi all, Here’s my Topaz blue 2002 E39 540i M Sport. Picked this up from @hqstu three months ago and have since completed over 6,000km. The condition of this vehicle is a testament to extensive work completed by HQSTU previously documented on his e38/39 Central DHB post. Certainly surprises people when you tell them it now has over 296,000km on clock. With all the big jobs already completed by HQSTU very little work has been required. Replaced number 8 coil with genuine BMW coil but after another coil failed the following month I decided to replace the remaining 7 original coils with new matching Bosch coils, this time from FCP. Replaced the rain light sensor (RLS) to restore function of the auto wipers, $32 from Pick a Part. A few other things to sort. There’s always something to fix on a 20 year old BMW.
  7. Good project for someone brave as it will probably go cheap. Calypso red is a nice colour but 242,000km, Singapore import and paint condition will scare off most. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/750i/listing/3934879506?bof=t1CUuipv Video from two years ago:
  8. Spotted this 1987 e24 635csi in gazelle beige with brown leather and period car phone parked in Akaroa on New Year’s Day. Also saw this 1990 zinnober red e24 635csi and 1988 alpine white e30 325i sedan at the Vintage Car Club New Year’s Day picnic.
