I'm about to do that on my E21 that has l-jet. I was going to fit the complete motronic loom, cut the round plug off and use decent insulated plug from an auto electrical place to connect into the E21 loom using the 2 wiring diagrams to cross reference..You may need to change injectors as I have read l-jet use low impedance. I have never tested this.

The 4 cams I have had measured were done by Kelford cams here in Chch. The cam cards read the same and the owner of the place reckons he has done a few and are all the same. Its a standard cam check..lift, duration etc and they do it a 50 thou lift.I was looking for the 264 duration cam apparently in the E21 baby 6's or 323i E30s to go in the 2.7 build currently under way. The subject has been discussed indepth on E30tech.com and one member "madhatter" who is now making his own cams from billets in Oz, reckons he has measured many and are the same(quote: "Ive also checked the E21 323i, E28 520i and E30 323i cams myself, given the fact ive started making billet camshafts, I figured id better know exactly what the standard cam was before I started"). So to satisfy my own curiosity I am measuring the different cams myself so I know exactly where I am. We have a 89 SAF 325i to check and an early 78 323i E21 also. I have trawled over the net for M20 cam specs but there is nothing solid..so really the only way to know for sure regarding M20 cam specs is to measure it. Anyone measured an M20 cam recently?

Hi..I have measured E21 320/6, E30 325 F/L, E30 320i pre F/L cams and are identical. Never measured a South African M20B25 cam though.I can't imagine cams for auto's and manual's to be different. P/N are the same. You would have to have very aggressive cam with say 288 duration to have stall issue's??

You probably right..but I had an E30 325i auto that was so good...Would like to do a manual conversion but the boxes are rare and expensive

The Jatco box is a bit sh*t when cold OK when warm. When its cold the change is erratic, over revs etc. Not sure if its worth fixing. What I was wondering if an E30 4HP22 trans will work with the M52? Just a thought.

I have been looking too. Ebay has a few. Dinan chips look like the go. Anything mapped similar to 2.7L alpina's should give a few extra hp's but don't expect a miracle

Hi..the later sway bars are only 0.5mm wider but they are used with different control arms. The older ones have a 2 piece conical bush and the later ones have a cast bush in the control arm..a better system used to help with the E21 shimmy. What I am doing is casting up my own Urethane bushes into these arms as they do on some of the E21 forums in the US. I found Topmark industries sell the casting Urethane..if you are interested I can send you all the details.Cheers

Reasonable E21 cam..could do with a regrind. From a 320/6 fits any M20 head and has longer duration than stock 325i: 256 vs 264. $100

Yes I would be keen. E21's are bad enough in the rear end and getting traction with a 2.3 was bad. I have a large concrete paver in the boot to help. When the 2.7 goes in it will be hopeless.

So are you saying I can convert my standard diff 3.45:1 to LSD?
