LOL - don't get me started on SUVs - everyone has pet hates - SUVs are right up there in my set of 'hates'...

Speedo error is, of course, why there is presently that ~10kph allowance. Reducing it to 5kph is just more PC crap. Did you hear on the news that some people were wanting the cops to give out tickets for 51kph around schools? Quite obviously, some people have VERY limited understanding of machinery or reality. I'm guessing that they are most likely non-driving women.

Bloody great to see such vigilance. I wish more people would help out like that. :thumb:

I used to rate the Cosworth Sierra quite highly as a sleeper in NZ. Not that many around, though.

LOL - so true!! Maybe it would it would be better put as " people who like cars" prefer something which stands out??? A quick survey around my office shows that, of about 20 people, only 3 (other than me) really care what they drive - the rest - its just a car. Typical responses to "what sort of car do you prefer or drive?" were - blue, 4 doors, hatchback, big enough for the shopping etc.. I guess they're the Corolla buyers..

More good reading from their home page, of course: Autozine

There's a lot of technical info out there, but I found this site is brief and clear and gives a great little breakdown of the various engine types etc. engine smoothness

LOL - speaking of which, were any of you guys around a few years ago when BMW did an April Fool ad, claiming that there were fake BMWs around, with the white and blue being reversed? It was funny! Apparently they do this every year. Have a squiz at some of them: BMW April Fools
-
LOL! Was it this statement which triggered that?

LOL! I wouldn't have!

As we all know, the US tends to be rather insular and unprepared to change their points of view. IMO, this is all part of the Ford equation. We will do it our way. When 'our way' no longer works - surely its time for a rethink?

I was thinking more like the vdo of Thriller... I can just see you terrorising young ladies!
-
That's a good point. People want something which stands out - if all the new Fords fail to do that, maybe they should grab Chris Bangle?
-
I think the BHP is indicative of the general historical US engine development philosophy: want more power? make the motor bigger! Whereas the rest of the world have gone the 'make the engine more efficient' path.

Personally, I think they look far better on your E34.

Forget boy racers – grey-haired baby boomers are causing most of the problems on Kapiti Coast roads. Middle-aged drivers speeding and not wearing seatbelts had been responsible for most of the driving offences in Otaki during the past month, Sergeant Noel Bigwood, of Otaki, said. About 60 per cent of drivers caught speeding were between 45 and 55. Those drivers also accounted for 80 per cent of seatbelt infringements, Mr Bigwood said. "If baby boomers slowed down and wore seatbelts we would have fewer injury crashes in this area," he said. "A higher number of young drivers tend to crash, but the older generation sets the example and young people will follow it." Driver behaviour in Otaki worried police because the crash rate for the town was 40 per cent higher than in neighbouring Kapiti Coast areas and Levin, he said. "If drivers do not break the law they will not receive tickets. Sixty-four speeding tickets so far this month are too many – and the majority of them have been issued to middle-aged people." Sergeant Ron Walker, of the Kapiti-Mana strategic traffic unit, said most drivers caught speeding between Peka Peka and Tawa during the past couple of months had been between 35 and 55. "They should know better – they are the ones who are meant to be setting the example."

I saw on the news that Ford are going to close a number of plants in US and many thousands of people will be out of work etc. IIRC, this will be second time in recent years that they've done this, all due to declining market share. In considering the news, I thought that maybe they're trying too hard to be all things to all people and maybe they'd do better to start specialising. Sooo - what areas of vehicle construction do YOU think Ford are good at. Me? I think trucks/utes and maybe mid-sized cars are their forte. I think their small cars suck and their attempts at the top end of the market are laughable. I think their attempts at the sports car market fall short also. Of course here downunder we mainly see Ozzie Fords, but I was thinking of the US market.
