Hi All, My passengers side broke, replaced that. Drivers door handle starting feeling funny, so ordered the part, however turns out it had already been replaced and the shaft had wiggled its way out the end. Pressed back in and away again. So I have a brand new Febi unit for sale. Note I purchased a cheaper ebay one for the passenger side it it took a whole day to fit, filing down crappy die-casting to make it fit. Hi, @TermiPeteNZ it seems to be a continually battle. In comparison I love my 540iS e34, it is so comparatively reliable! Its about 1 year in now and about 10,000'ks. Has been a great tow machine and seen several ski trips up the mountains. Feel like I have got the bottom of most of the issues and I have address all the typical fault areas, but none the less not sure how much longer my affair with the X5 will last, someone will get a will maintained X5 when I do get round to selling it with all the suspension overhaul I have done. Thanks to FCP Euro taking my money. Can you share details of the key? I need a spare and haven't got round to that yet. I have the following notes and didnt pull the trigger as was too expensive at the time "BMW number of current key 6955749. CHCH bmw supersedes to 6955749. $444 inc ex Germany. " I am still chasing a mild vibration on acceleration, which is very annoying more than anything else. Hi, Giving the X5 a rear suspension birthday, replacing both arms, ball joints and integral links, however need the old special tooling for the ball joint removal and replacement. Was wondering...... Would anyone happen to have this tool and be prepared to loan it out? Cheers. ?

Hi, I replaced the original 2.93 diff with a 3.45 lsd and need to get rid of the original one. It is in excellent condition and was removed from the car before getting to 100,000k's. I believe it has the 7 series input flange on it, which was swapped with the diff swap was done. $250 Any interest let me know, as I would prefer not to have to lug this between houses. Thanks

Thanks Gabe. I think as they only offer air freight the shipping cost probably outweighs sourcing locally. They look great for light weight bits! Their suspension kits look fantastic.

@Gabe79 Thanks! I have emailed the seller to see if its going to be possible, will let you know but as you say its extremely unlikely. Appreciated every ones honest opinions re PPI and MBI. My understanding re MBI from reading the threads is its difficult to get when you don't by from a dealer, but I see AA offer it. Maybe best to start another thread about MBI (or search for an exisiting one. Yes I also think X5's are awesome hence why I am prepared to part with my hard earned cash for one. Missus thinks I should get a Tourareg, but I just cant stoop to it.

" Having had a dig through the feedback and the other thread and based on the k's and the hdr which looks like they are trying to hide something it does make me a little nervous buying it site unseen with out a PPI. If the auction didn't close tomorrow I would get him to take it to hellbm for a PPI. Unless anyone else happens to be in browns bay area and could check it out for me? Not to worried about reasonable service costs, or fuel costs. I would by it cause i want to not need it And it would look good beside my techno-violet 540iS. ahh decisions decisions.... Thanks Logan

Hi, So I am on the hunt for a reasonable X5 after convincing the other half (or she convinced me?) that an X5 is a good idea over an All Road, Touareg etc and would look good next to the 540is. Have driven a bunch of different types and definitely want a face lift, and can not afford an E70. The ideal vehicle would probably have; -Black -Mid 100k's -Heated Seats -Panoramic roof -Tidy Interior (wood preferred over silver interior) -NZ New -Roof Racks / Box / Ski Racks -Christchurch located (not critical, keen for road trips) -Fair price for a fair car. Anything out there, I am keeping a close eye on trade-me. Regards Logan

FYI perseverance is the answer. I sat through the alarm going off and for a further 20mins. Then went through the key initialization process about 5 times before it worked. Now have one key working at least. The manual is poorly worded, but accurate. Will post a picture of my NZ manual up later for future reference.

So I thought it would be a good idea to swap over the guts form the worn out key to the non functioning but mint key housing at lunch time. Quick job, hey says, what could go wrong he says..... Well here I am no stranded.... So since I didn't have the car unlocked at the time of swapping them over both keys have effectively lost their coding or whatever it is called I can no longer use the factory manual process of programmed (should have RTFM!). What are my options? Can I fix this myself or do i need to get the dealership involved? Please help. Thanks in advance.
