  1. Then a diesel would be plenty of grunt. I agree it's the kind of car that you get driven around in, so who wants to be thrown into corners and put way back in your seat from the V12 when you're getting some action in the back, reading the paper or filming an episode of baywatch in the back?

730ld would be my choice no matter how much dosh I had lol.

    730Ld's are extremely boring when you've driven a 760!!

they are barry basic usually too.

  2. To be fair, the X3 does ride reasonably hard, theres no real way to "fix" it as such,

I have driven plenty with standard suspension and sports suspension and they aren't that much different.

They ride significantly harder than an X5, the body is smaller and somewhat stiffer so theres not a lot of give.

I think 3.0sd came with runflats from memory but they have a spare so many people changed to standard tyres ( silly if you ask me)

I suspect you will have to learn to live with it.

  3. I have an M62B44 non vanos non watercooled alternator type long engine for sale from a 98 540 done 150,000kms and also ZF transmission from the same car, the car was smacked up the back and written off and I bought these for a project which i dont have the time or space for due to being ridiculously busy at work and spending 6.5 days a week there.

Make me an offer over $1,000 for both.

  4. Lexus suspension sh*t like the whole car and no I dont like bouncy suspension.

My suspension is not bouncy it is tuned for how I drive and the wheels / tyres fitted to it. It gives controlled wheel movement to give consistent handling at speed over the mediocre roads we have

In comparison the 335 was squishy and vague, lacked turn in precision, tail end steered and was generally a disappointment in the handling stakes.

Set up like it was I would probably be on the bump stops at least 20 or 30 times on my daily drive.

Yes you might be able to punt it round taupo and you might like it but I DONT!

I have punted my car around taupo and it was very rewarding.

You need to remember that you're part of the minority, most people who buy a new BMW dont want a hard ride, they want it to be smooth and comfortable, i know this because i talk to people every day who buy brand new BMWs.

The compromise to a softer ride is softer handling, thats the facts, if you dont like it don't buy one with standard suspension!

Go down to the dealership and order one with M sport suspension and keep yourself happy.

I've done quite a bit of driving now in the 328i sport line with standard suspension and i think its pretty spot on, but then my daily commute will be very different to yours and perhaps i prefer to cruise to and from work rather than working the car out.

  5. They arent that dear to own, yes if you have a catastrophic failure, but these cars are reasonably reliable considering the performance!

the engines are virtually bulletproof as long as the vanos high pressure oil line and or pump has been done.

the gearbox is good, clutches do go but not that often and its still a conventional clutch so what do you expect??

I think alot of people are forgetting that the car is comprable in performance to the likes of a Ferrari etc, and therefore cannot be compared maintainance wise to say a E39 anything!

I've got a customer with one thats done 180,000km and drives it daily and he gets very good fuel economy for what it is and has been super reliable.

I'd own one anyday! certainly much more desiarable than an E39 M5 to drive and look at in my opinion.
