did u put in a heat shield as well? could u post a pic please? i'd be keen to do this, but need to make a heat shield and that doesnt seem very easy. without it its pointless.

haha its not a crappy computer. there is a switch above your break pedal. got no idea how much it costs, but they tend to go faulty, swap that and u'll get no more errors. ill try and find a link for the diy, its not very expensive. if u buy aftermarket lights ask if they work with the obc. i know some on trademe do as i asked. found it: http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticl...rake_Switch.htm

cool, finaly someone with personal experience. everything i've heard about bilsteins has been good so far though. koni's aren't used as much in bmw's as bilsteins but i read some posts that some Koni's SA with top adjustment went bad after just one year and stuff, but guys in america get lifetime warrenty so suppose overthere it wouldnt matter. which konis do u have in the 328? thnx for the info...

yeah i wouldnt want to get something thats worse than my stock suspension made in 1993. i rang george stock but grant wasnt there and these were the prices: KONI: Front: 436+gst each Rear: 224+gst each KYB: Front: 340+gst each Rear: 76+gst each from what i've heard koni is probably the same kinda thing as blistein, but the guy i spoke to seemed to think koni is much better. both are rebuildeable. the warrenty on those is 2years or 50,000km. From the shock stop: BLISTEIN: Front: 356+gst each Rear: 227+gst each MONROE: Front: $439+gst BOTH Rear: $261+gst BOTH also 2 year warrenty. ok so now i have to decide, and i also need to do my brakes so somethings gona have to wait, i've never heard of kyb, blistein/koni seem a bit expensive since im not goin to race, and im doubtfull of monroe. dammit, so difficult.

thnx man! ill ring george stock tmrw and see what the pricing is like. do u think if i get monroes that they'll be worse than what i have on now, which is standard 1993 e36 shocks (SA import).

thanks for the info, i will ring tomorrow. i can get blistein but it'll be double the price of monroe and 1/2 the warrenty period. so i doubt that i will, unless u race your car there is no point gettin blistein, i just want something thats good all round and not too costly. how does koni or kyb compare to monroe quality wise?

I need new shocks all round. Do u guys think i should go with standard bmw shocks ($738 EACH for front, $150EACH rear, 2year warrenty) or get monroe's (4year warrenty, $439front pair and $261rear pair). $738 for each shock is just plainly STUPID. front bmw ones are blistein and rear are bouge. oh and a good place to buy monroe's from... thnx...

search on google and u shall find. but there are two ways of doing it, either extend it down to your bumper and be careful with puddles or make a heat shield and leave it behind the left headlight. let me know if u decide to do this, i was looking at doin it too.

team mcmillan charge $179+gst, a bit too much i think. in the usa they can get it for $50usd. Anyone know a good place to get it other than bmw, i dont mind 2nd hand.

i went to new market tyre but the guy that does it broke some bone and will be out of work for a couple of weeks. so i asked Barry where he recommends i go as i was referred to them. he told me to go see "Jeff in Quay Street, Frank Allen Tires" and to ask specifically for Jeff. I did and Jeff did a good job (he used to work for new market tire). The steering wheel is a little bit off but ill live with it, if he was a dick i would have gone back and complained but he was really cool and i had a good look under my car while up on the lift. Cost was the same, $69. and it didnt take long as apparently it wasnt much out of allignment. oh and if your steering wheel is crooked while going straight they ARE ment to fix it. anyway just wanted to say thnx for all your help and if ever in doubt go see Jeff.

as stupid as this sounds but make sure your negative lead on your battery is on tight, mine wasnt once and caused all sorts of sh*t. but yeah it could be your alternator. good luck dude...

ok i rang these guys and its $69 but can't do it till next week because their guy is away. that tells me that they have one dude for wheel alignment and he'll do it properly. i'll go there and they do give out a printout. thnx for everyones help...

i am just in the process of replacing my steering rack on my e36 and after that ill need an alignment. in auckland. at team mcmillan they charge $180 + gst and beau repairs is $60. i think 180 is a bit much and 60 will get me a piss poor job. where do u guys recommend i go? i've been reading around the forum and only found Tyreworx in NewLynn recommended. anyone else got any other suggestions/prices? i do all of the work on the car myself but this is something that is out of my reach, its hard to trust anyone else.

thnx for the info guys. to get hella lights/bulbs, you'd have to go straight to bmw or can u order from hella directly? on e36's the fogs use h1 bulbs and headlights h4, is that correct? so to make it all look 'white', i'd just have to buy the appropriate size Osram silverstar's bulbs.

is it true that unless you get a proper HID kit and replace the whole headlight it will not look very good (e36)? does hella make a whole hid kit or do they just sell the bulbs? thnx

have u sold the seats? are the side mirros heated? if yes, how much for just the actual mirrors? how many km's the car done, and how much for the steering rack if its still ok? all 4 matts? and the rear seatbelts plugs, left and right, the things that you plug the seatbelt into? sorry for so many q's but my car is kinda well yeah, thnx!!

i thought by just replacing the stock flat panel u get no performance increase, but with a cone u get about 5hp or so, nd it sounds cool!?
