    Starter motor?

Ok, the battery has charged over night so will try it this afternoon and check the charge rate. I do think the started motor is gone though, how much do they cost approx? Is it a hard diy?
  2. Hey! Car: 93' e36 320i, 245km, manual So I get up today morning and the car won't start, doesn't turn over, nothing. Battery seems dead. 1. Try to jump start it and nothing, no turning over (so I figure its not the battery as it had the leads from another car going to it) 2. When I turn the key all I hear is clicking 3. Push starting starts the car 4. As soon as I turn the car off the battery goes dead STRAIGHT away 5. Water low in battery, fill it up and its currently charging So my question is. Is this a started motor problem combined with a dead battery? It can't be just the battery can it? As the car never turns over, just clicks. How do I check the solenoid? I've done some research but didn't come up with anything sufficient. Thanks for any help. Gregor

    inner tie rod

It just needs the inner tie rod on the passenger side. Can't get original BMW parts separately anymore but only the whole assembly. I think there is aftermarket suppliers that sell the parts separately so will try and just get the part from one of them, if I can find it. rather not buy 2nd hand. I can pass the warrant but if I don't fix it it will just destroy my new tires, so I guess its worth doing. Anyone know where I can buy aftermarket parts from? Thanks for your replies btw. To change just the inner tie rod, does the whole assembly still need to come off?

    inner tie rod

Hey, Just failed a warrant because inner tie rod is loose or something. The whole tie-rod assembly costs about $190 new. Do you recommend I buy it new or find second hand? New I can only buy the whole assembly that comes with ball joints too apparently. And I'd should probably buy both sides if buying new so thats $400 + labour, a bit too much. Also, how hard is it to install? I've read the bentley and they say you need a special tool. Thanks, Gregor
  5. Ok I give up, approximately how much would this cost me if I bring the car in to botanymortorworks tomorrow or sometime before Thursday this week? Because that is when I really need the car fixed by. I live about 5min from botany.
  6. Ok, got the front bumper off, the kidney grills and can see the cable. Pulling on it as hard as we can and nothing. It's very loose. How exactly do I do that? Because all I can see is the 'box' that the levers go into, can't see any manual way of releasing them. Thanks again.
  7. Ok thanks very much for your help. I'll go attempt it now and report on how I'm going later today. I'll take the bumper off since that will give more room and from then on I'll see. Thanks again, Gregor Edit: Took it all off in order to replace the front panel, grills and the bonnet And turns out did the bonnet last and now it doesn't open...
  8. Yeah had the headlights and the whole front off last week but looks like will have to do it again. How do I pull the kidney grills off from the outside? Without damaging anything that is.
  9. I did put 'e36' in the thread title Its a 4 door, e36, 320i. 1993. Not much to take a photo of, just looks like a closed bonnet on any e36, but slightly raised. The edges of the bonnet by the windshield line up perfectly with the surroundings.
  10. Hi! I replaced my old dented hood and now the new one won't pop-up. Im guessing its because the whole front of the car has shifted back a few mm and so something is catching. I've tried pushing down on it hard and seeing if it will pop up but doesn't work, tried it with two people as well. The latch inside the car is loose now but the bonnet is still firmly down. What I want to know is if there is any other way of releasing the bonnet? From underneath the car by removing the bumper maybe? Any help appreciated, I need to go on a trip next week and really don't want to risk it with this being stuck down. Thanks, Gregor
  11. Hey, Turns out I need some roof racks for my e36. Not sure if it matters or not but its a 4 door 1993. If anyones got any spare please let me know. Not looking to spend too much. Thanks, Gregor
  12. I've found that most stations will let you fill up, even with the 'pre-pay' sign on if you just give them your credit card, eftpost or license just to reassure them you won't steal, I think its fair enough. --- I've religiously been using 98 octane ever since 96 went out of commission, so its either Mobil or BP for me. Would using 91 octane really hurt an engine? Im considering giving it a try, what do you think?
  13. I've spoken to ray and he used to even have one in the right colour but he sold it, now that I've given up on trying to get the right colour (diamond metallic black) i've rung him again and he'll have a look for another one. hopefully he'll come up with something because every wrecker is rather overpriced in my opinion. i got the front panel from ray, wish you could somehow paste positive feedback on here.
  14. So turns out I still need a bonnet. I will try and find out what the shipping would be like from wellington or chch. If anyone has one around the Auckland area please let me know. Thanks, Gregor
  15. I find this a problem with wherever I take my car, there is always something that doesn't end up being 'perfect'. Its got to the point that I do everything I can at home because then I know its done properly, ends up being cheaper too... --- As for Ladies Mile Motors they are pretty cool, apparently they have a whole warehouse of e36's just down the road from the shop. I needed a new wheel (just 1 because it was buckled) and the boss there quoted me $295+gst (2nd hand wheel), then I rang up a few days later and another guy quoted me $175. When I went there the boss said there must be a mistake. I told him that unless he does that price I'll drive to manukau (ryan st, forgot the name of the shop) and get it for that price there since was quoted the same. He quickly changed his mind and I got my wheel
  16. Everything else seems fine yeah, the car is running the same as always. M50, 2L engine. The problem came on all of a sudden and been the same since.
  17. Hey, Not sure if such a thing as a 'rpm sensor' even exists in e36's but my rpm gauge is all over the place. Well its fine up to about 2000-2500rpm but after that it starts 'lagging'. As if its only receives a reading every 1-2sec and updates accordingly. I've tried searching around but cannot come up with anything. Appreciate any help, Gregor
  18. Sounds great, will give you a call tomorrow evening. Gregor
  19. As title says, I need the front panel. Colour is Very dark gray/black (Metalic Diamond Black). PM me if you got one and how much you'd like for it. I'm in Auckland. Thanks anyone, Gregor
  20. Thanks for the quick replies guys. Unfortunately I'm in Auck or I would take you up on that offer.
  21. Hey, I need a bonnet for my 1993, 4 door e36. Colour is very dark gray/black. I've looked on trademe but there is only one I can see and its blue, also costs a lot. Also if someones got a spare front bumper they want to get rid of for cheap, I do not really need one but its got a little dent in it, it could also be a good time to swap for an m3 one but don't see many of them for sale. Thanks, Gregor
  22. ok cool, I will give Ray a call tomorrow. Thanks for your help!!!
  23. Yeah I know its about $80 but the leather cover thing is about $200 which I do not really want to pay for. So if someone has a 2nd hand one they don't need I'll buy it. Doesn't have to be perfect condition its just that mine is fully ripped and the knob just keeps on falling off.
  24. Yea as per title. To buy new it just costs stupidly too much.
