-
Looks good Gus. Real low though!! Definitley not Jamex's (unless they have been cut!!). I think it looks quite good with the bling blings, pimp stylz!! Does it have a LSD?? Andrew: have you painted those bottlecaps?? Pics?? Did it turn out all good!!

Thanks bumpstop325, The rest of you please hold off till I get the final bill. Should be monday!!

I'll try and reply again, F*&K'n PC!!! I have no idea on $$$. I will look into it in the new year as there seems to be some interest. Does anyone have a spare rear subframe?? I was thinking I could do all the work on them (welding etc...) and sell them on an exchange basis. eg. you pull out your subframe send it to me and I send you a pre-modded, black powder coated one back the next day so you can install it. Just a thought.

I could but they wouldn't be the nicest. I have a friend who operates a CNC machine and I could get him to do them. I'll wait till the urethane bush groupbuy is all done and everyone is happy, then I'll see who wants one of these camber/toe adjuster kits. Sound like a plan??

Update: The goods are in the country. Got a call from TNT, looks like we have to pay GST, O'well. So it looks like around $440. I will confirm when they arrive. Later Glenn CiLK WuRM: Just hold off for now. thanks.

Have a look at the attached image. It shows how they work. As the Hex part of the bolt is turned it moves the actual bolt part up and down in the slot. By doing this it changes the angle of the rear suspension by raising/lower or moving forward/back the pivot point.
-
No worries ///Dave. The E30 has fixed rear suspension geometry. That means when you lower your ride and go for a wheel alignment they can not correct the rear suspension. What is in that link on Gustuave's site is adding brackets & special eccentric bolts (bolt is off centre to the head). The brackets which need to be custom made look kinda like this __ n u the head of the bolt stays between the 2 lines and the offset bolt moves forward and back between them (in the elongated cutout). If it is welded to the subframe in the vertical position it allows you to adjust the Camber. In the Horizontal position it adjusts Toe. Clear as Mud???

ooh. I sense another groupbuy coming on. Who would be keen to get all the parts on that link (even the custom made bits) as a kit?? It could even include the Z3 rear shock reinforcement plates!! So when you pull the rear subframe to put your bushes in (those who took part in the groupbuy) you can pop down to the local engineer and get the stock holes enlarged and the new bolt mounts welded on, an you could even get the subframe powder coated!! Sorry for the hijack Gus.

If it is anything like mine it will around -3d on the rears. I think I posted this like before, but this is how I'm going to fix mine. Camber & Toe adjusters. Rear sub-frame mod. Do it when you pull out the subframe to put the bushes in!!

Thats the one, I knew it was somethin like that.

Get some 1.5 - 2mm thick Aluminium sheet. It is easy to bend etc... You can seal off that whole front corner of the engine bay by bringing the alu sheet up to the underside of the bonnet from the chassis rail or fold it over so it is still sealed when the bonnet is open. my 2c for this evening.

tHrEEtWoFiVe: Good Work, That is one very tidy E30 you have there. M20's look good with the black painted rocker cover & inlet manifold. But I'm sorry, those wheels don't do it any justice. What size tyres are you running on them?? I think I will have to sell you my 16's!!
-
That plate look familiar. Wasn't it on a white M325i with big bling bling chromies. Use to see it parked at the coffee stand at the Shell by queens wharf.

If you think of the suspension as any other type of mechanical linkage, for it to work as it is designed to it would have solid (brass for eg) bushes, as this provides the most consistant performance . The problem with using solid bushes in a car suspension is, 1. fatigue of the actual metal components connecting the suspension (bolts, trailing arms, sub-frame mounts etc...) 2. ride harshness & noise, obviously if something is solid it is going to transmit noise & vibration alot more than a lump of rubber. From the above you can see why someone like BMW would use soft rubber, to protect the longevitey of it parts and to promote superior ride comfort with reduced noise & vibration, in no way related to perfromance. Even to the extent of using liquid filled engine mounts on the 318is's etc...

Well I found another muffler, I managed to fit it in front of the fuel tank. So now there are 2 and it is a fair bit quieter, still has a nice sound to it. Will add pics soon.
-
Front or Rear?? I checked mine when I had them apart for the BBK install and they felt alittle rough/noisy, but there is no play in them or audiable noise in the car, feel OK too.
-
I think that is a load of shite, and not just because I bought 7sets!!! It will affect ride comfort to some extent in terms of firmness and more postive/connected feel to the road (hardly a bad thing!!), but nothing like a race car. Then you get into the issues of if you stick with stock rubber bushes and the amount of flex they give so you have a comfortable ride can not positively affect the handling. Sure it will ride nice and smooth like your mums maxima but when the rear toe is chaning upto 5mm during hard cornering it just not cricket. I'm sure every performance based upgrade has its affect on ride quality, bigger wheels for example!! I'm sure we'll find out soon enough Andrew!! I'll be glad to see the back of my rear wheel steering issue that is for sure!!!

I'll get you to transfer the balance once I receive the goods then I can send them out. Depends when they get here & if I can get them sent off again before X-mas. Prolly send the Auckland ones to andrew and he can distribute/collect funds (if he has time) or you can pick them up!?!?!?! Others I can send to you directly. Or at the summer cruise, but I'm sure most of us will want to put them in before then!!
-
Thanks Gus. Well our order gets shipped on monday, should be here early the next week. Might not be able to distribute them before X-mas but I'll post some pics if not. I'll sort something out. over.

Andrew: Why aren't you at work?? or replying to my PM!! Bloody slackers!!

325eye: How much DIY have you included in that $10000, if any?? That is what makes thins cost so much, if you are paying someone $60/hr to build an exhaust + materials the cost easily blows out. When it is DIY it costs what you pay for the materials, an exhaust for example will easily double or triple over the material costs if you are paying someone to do it. Bottom line is "if you are paying someone to do the work be prepared for it to cost $$$" As far as upgrading brakes etc... Straight from the certifiers mouth "If it stops from the factory and you haven't added a huge amount of weight to it, it will still stop the same!!". Personally, I put on the biggest brakes I could fit under my 16's, for piece of mind.

Does it have a charcoal canister?? That tube could go to one, it is used to remove petrol fumes from the fuel tank. GUS: specially for you!!
