Mate, after a box, do you think you'll care? She is fyi Hahaha. Hope you like asian.
-
Oh good point hahahaaha Well im sure she'll be happy to take him out for a box
-
Ah ok, Nah, the lock is still vertical, but the system is acting like it's still deadlocked. I did a bit of research, and it turns out theres a microswitch in the door lock that is flicked when you turn it horizontal telling all the other locks to deadlock too - i might try open the door up and see if i can flick that & get the other lock to unlock. I dont think you can see much of the lock with the door card off though, so probably wont get much luck with that.

Haha I got a mate down in Dunies...i'll get her to give you a beer
-
AA guys got in..in less than a minute...so that's that solved. But the problem is, the alarm woudlnt unset the door because someone (i assume) with the actual key for the door (since my key doesnt fit the barrel) has put the deadlock on for the passenger side. I live really close to where I bought it, but I dont have the contact details of the previous owner. Does anyone know how to check if this is actually the case (i cant pull the lock up, or pull the door handle), how to get around it, or fix it? I thought that when the deadlock was put on, the lock was horizontal as oposed to vertical after normal locking. Thanks for any help on this.

Skirts gone, Spoiler gone (thanks Andrew)

That's actually a good idea lol. Thanks, ill give that a go

Spolier - done. I'll pull it off Tm. As for the bonnet - i have someone else looking at it, but if they dont want it, ill let you know bean. Getting it to welly would be a mish though.

Half the advertised Buy Now price for anything here, for bimmersporters.

So im locked out of my car (ironically). This car never ceases to pwn me. Anyway... The car went flat. I poped the bonnet (using the release switch) and hooked it up to another car battery as ive done plenty of times. Except this time, the alarm wont unlock the doors. I can see the light unsetting the alarm, and i can set it, and i can hold the button down and set the alarm off, but it wont unlock the doors. My key doesnt fit either locks. Great. Works on the boot though. Fail. Any ideas? Box of beer to the person who can solve this for me without spending $150 on a mobile locksmith.

Obviously at this price i've had a torrent of calls about the car - it's tentatively sold at the moment, but i'll post here if it doesnt move. Thanks guys Gareth

Thanks guys. Hoping to get 3 for it. Will come back to BMW's at a later stage, but right now, 220hp rwd manual with targa roof & lsd for 2k is just too good to pass up.

So i need to replace my koni/king setup in my E30 as its arse now, I get major bodyroll and the thing bounces like a mofo. What is a good combination for the E30? I dont want superlows, my car is already low enough - just something good and proper for them. I was also considering coilovers but I think that might be overkill? What's the story on those buggers? Any advice would be awesome.
-
Oh and are you running them directly from the PC to the switch, or do you have RJ45 jacks?
-
You have to take into account other things such as the quaility of the switch you're using, the network cards, and the bus speed of the computers (i.e. the PCI version, and 32bit vs. 64bit) as here at work we're using 64bit Cisco network cards, though CAT6 cables (Made by me, but i'm certed), into machines running the Seagate Cheetah Ultra 320 SCSI drives (15000 RPM at memory) in RAID - though a Fully managed Cisco gigabit switch, and I can pull straight file trasnfers of up to 10GB / 3 Mins (just did a quick copy on our database server) but this is on Windows Server 2003 / 2007 - the other bottleneck (and the most likely one) is Windows - specifically Windows XP. I cant remember where I read it, but there's a way to tell windows to not throttle its network - like if you copy a file, and while it's copying go into Task Manager and look at your network usage, it probably wont even be near 10% - there's a way to bring that up. Server 2003 just goes for it. But to answer your question about your cable - yes, your wiring can definately affect your speeds, but you'd have to have wired it with your eyes shut to dramatiacally affect your speeds. Also, check the quality of your RJ45 ends - some have a very small little pin that penetrates the wire, and some have a massive 4 or 5 pronged copper bar that splits it for maximum contact - I use those.

Well - she's fixed (mostly). The front kit just bounced strait back, just needs about 3 inches of plastic welding done to it, and some paint - and my wheel needs repairing. All good otherwise Also I dont know if its just because its been a while since I drove the car, but with two new control arms + all ball joints and bushes replaced on both sides of the front suspension, it seems a dream to drive? I could drive with my little finger...I dont remember it being so smooth. Anyone know any good painters / plastic welders?
-
Thanks for the comments guys, it's also given me a good chance to have a go at getting my manual box in. Should be fun. Thanks for that link too Josh i'll check them out.

Insurance never paid - and after looking more closely it was such little damage it would have ruined my bonus anyway. Current status is one totally bent control arm, one very screwed and sheered steering arm rod end, and some kit / valance damage. And one gouged mag. The valance has been beaten back into submission, all good there - the 1/4 pannel has been replaced, all good there...the only real thing I have a problem with now is the ball joint on the control arm...its got a ver slight threading issue...once i have that sorted, it'll be on the road. Just need to get the wheel repaired and some plastic welding / slight repaint. Not sure if my rack or anything else unseen is stuffed up...will find out once i drive it / take it for a balance.
-
Yep pretty repairable. Took another look today, just some pretty basic damage that is part out - part in stuff. Just have no-where to store or work on it at the moment.
-
Woah, your car must be pretty damn low as I can get mine under fairly easy, and i'm riding pretty low. You got the single sided winder type one?
-
Thanks Will, irrespective of insurance i'll be getting this bad boy fixed up - I just dont have the means to get it to you, I dont own or know anyone that owns a car with a towball and that has the time to take me a few hours north. Fyi I was only kidding about the honda thing - if that was a honda which did that I dont think there'd be much left to salvage M3 Cab - You drive a red e30 M3? Spotted one one on Newton a few weeks back, was going to pull over but too much traffic.
