    Hey guys,

    Just got my e36 318is serviced today and apparently both ends has some play and will need to be done before the next wof.

    Mechanic said it might costs a couple of hundred $$$

    Anyone had this done before or know how much roughly to replace or fix?

    If the play is not tie rod ends ( the little ball joint looking thing that connects to your strut ) Then you can get your rack end's rebuilt.

    I got my bit's from Brake & Trans in Whangarei for under a $100 all up ( deals ). Then had a mechanic friend help me assemble it

    Most automotive parts places should be able to source what you need with the right details about your car

    Or cruise into a Bmw service place and get some OEM parts and do it that way... Not sure on cost with that though....

    Ok, after doing more research iv decided its to much $$$ for me to turbo my car, so instead i am going to do a manual conversion and mtech kit, i am gona have to wait for a little while b4 i can purchase these parts as $$$ is a bit tight untill end of january. But if any1 offers me one cheap or i see a cheap buy i may purchase it. Looking to buy kit as whole(front,side,rear kit)

    yeah bro good choice aye. Unless you've got money to burn taking on a project like that does cost alot of money to do it right. Plus getting all the parts and putting it together is only half the mission. Tuning it, maintaining it and running it from day to day is what really costs.

    You can turbo the m20 just dont expect easy HP from it due to its 12 valve head.

    if you do go for turboing the m20, look into a proper fuel system (pretty much key), an ECU (link is a good base) multilayer metal head gasket (a must), wide band o2 for tuning all this will allow you to run lower boost 10-12psi. Anything on top of this with the m20 your looking into some interesting engine work.

    We need some more turbo BMWs around :D I wished more people would look into it ... its not actually that much of a black art.

    Chuck me another $5000 on top of what I've spent and I'd happliy turbo mine.

    I did seriously look into it as I was having to make a exhaust manifold from scratch anyway....... Sucks my income does not keep up with inflation aye

    Since my swap I've being using premium 95 - 96 octane petrol with the odd tank of 98 when I go through aucks.

    But the other day my mrs put a tank of 91 in and my car still just seems to run the same. No pinging, missing or hesitation.......If I'd done this with my old m20 motor it wouldn't like it.

    So is it okay to run my m50 motor on 91 as it's cheaper and just put in octane booster every now and then???

    What colour are you going to paint it?

    Havn't decided yet. Probably like a darkish silver kinda thing

    post-342-1167814735_thumb.jpgpost-342-1167814432_thumb.jpgGidday MrHamWallet, running a 4.1 diff awesome around manfield took 2 seconds off lap times straight out of the box, no slipper, fully locked as for circut only, works brilliantly slipper would be nice but not really necessary for race car. was running a 3.64 but never got into 5th, 1st is a bit useless but 2nd gear starts still spin the wheels and 3rd and 4th around most corners works out great.

    I am prepared to negotiate the sale price to anyone interested for a cash quick sale (a little bit) and will consider 2002 or manual 325 e30 trades.

    Yeah I want to get my hands on a 3.64 lsd for mine. I've got a 2.93lsd in there at the mo and it's a bit tall for what I want.

    m-tech 1 rear bumper in ok condition - chrome in good condition , will need paint same colour as your car and has to rubber bits that go at the end off the chrome. $140ono

    E30 manual pedal box $80

    E30 front grills kidney grills and grills that go round lights $50ono

    Front and rear lights $20 a pair.

    all other parts just ask, all other parts $5-20

    most panels are in prime and have the bagde holes deleted and side moulding deleted.

    What ratio diff are you running and is it a Limited slip??

    I agree with conrod that is alot of car for the money..... I rekon you should keep it and take the beating from the wife :unsure:

    Thanks Martyyn, have tried the disconnect battery and reset button tricks already but not the disconnect the OBC plug itself. Will give it a bash (but not Gary style...)

    Might as well just rip it out Will and give it to me :ph34r: I've being looking for another one for age's.

    I can replace it with a nice and reliable analog clock version. I can gary entee this won't f**k out hahaha
