  1. Definately look at the spark pack as that could cause the symptoms you are describing - is it a little weak, very weak ie causing a misfire, or not firing at all? Probably best to have this checked asap by the service agent. Magnatec is a good oil no doubt about it -BUT if your engine is getting a bit loose with km's, you could look at an oil around the 5w/50 mark. If its not going to get near freezing where you live then the lower no could be raised to a bit but no higher than 15w/50. Your first step though before worrying about oil grade is to sort the first issue out.

    Spongy Brakes

As a rule, E30 brakes feel different to those of your average jappa. Several reasons contribute to this - the first being that the brake pedal connects to a rod that travels back over to the left side of the car via a set of linkages before activating the brake booster - a recipe for a dead feel to the brakes. Another reason is the actual design of the brakes themselves in that they are not "over boosted" so that prior to ABS anyway, the brakes were less likely to lock under heavy braking. The final reason is that many are in need of some attention by now in the way of sticking calipers, pads and air in the system. Try a bleed, and a good set of pads followed by looking at the caliper pins for rust and sticking.

Yeah like withdraw your auction right now - cause it looks as if you have just sold em for 500 unless you dont
  4. Check your email Gus re the springs you sent me - Cheers
  5. Cheers Gus - springs arrived today. Anyone know the ride height of 325i M spec springs?
  6. Why would you even bother spending money on 20 year old shocks - they will no doubt be stuffed at that age. Unfortunately as is so often the case with people trying to lower their cars on a budget, only half the job gets done. Sports shocks would do the trick, but they come at a hefty price.
  7. WOT = Wide open Throttle.
  8. Yes, the B+G springs do settle slightly higher at the rear - well at least mine did anyway. You really shouldnt notice it unless the car is level. If you could post us a pic we could see exactly by how much you are talking about. As others have already said, they will settle somewhat. Heres a pic of mine with the same springs and Bilstein Sports

    My Project

Looks like you have your work cut out there. I have just finished a dash swop (this weekend) and it wasnt as bad as I first thought. I had been putting it off for months but the dash was out in three hours and back in with all the electrics in four. From the looks of your photos, you have already done the hard yards as far as the dash goes. As for the loom, lable everything!!! It might pay to lay out both looms on the garage floor before you start putting in the replacement. Re the struts, my advice would be to go for the 51mm units. Much easier and cheaper to source a set of 51mm Bilstein Sports from the States that way. If you already have a set of good sports shocks in your smaller struts housings, then just keep those. Good luck.
  10. There is really no point on putting a 535i TB on a 320 - even if you could get it to fit, it would do little for performance other than make it worse. I have heard though that useful gains can be made be using a 325 TB. The Power gains are not large though.
  11. Well, what can I say...Beautiful !!!
  12. yes please for 1 set of springs depending on whether they are from a 6cyl - email me at bmgilmour@paradise.net.nz - will cover freight as well.
  13. And how much would you like for a set?
  14. If you are simply touching up existing Genuine BMW shadowline it will be difficult to get an exact match in terms of gloss so I would start with a Matt and see how that looks. For the full conversion try Dulux paint from Placemakers or Mitre10 (cant remember which one) If you are painting over chrome you will also need some fine sand paper and an etching primer (Super Cheap Auto). The Dulux goes on nice and smooth and seems pretty good. I did mine in Satin Black. It will look a little too glossy when you first paint it, but give it a week or three and it will dull down quite a bit. At that stage you could then protect it with some car wax.

Very nice. I like that you have kept the car within keeping of its era without all the bling and rice that you see on so many beemers these days. Well done.
  16. Nice ride but those bonnet vents - reminds me of a falcon. Also not sure about the BMW sticker on the lower guards. But as I have always maintained - its your car and if you enjoy it good on ya. :
  17. I had a VR-4 a few years back and they can really get up and fly - especially on a gravel road. But, and its a big but, drive them hard and eventually at anywhere from 150 - 180 thou km they tend to need either turbo work, gearbox work, or engine work. Mitsi build quality is crap imo, a bit like the e30 except with thinner steel.

    New eyes

I think it looks cool. Re last post - what is against the law with this DNZ - would be interested to know
  19. Yep, so they have probably made a mistake - it certainly wouldnt be obvious to the casual glance though somebody has definately cocked up. Give them the chance to put things right and see what happens. In my experience, staying polite and calm at this stage in things can go along way to getting the situation sorted quickly.

    E30 ANGEL EYES

Be very careful when buying headlights from the US. You will probably find that the beam pattern is wrong for driving on the left hand side of the road. You will then get picked up at WOF time when they use a beam setter and find that your headlights cant be adjusted to within a legal range. Buying from another left hand drive country may be a safer bet ie Aussie or UK

    My 1990 320

Now ya talking - nice ride - Glad you are staying true to the E30 - they can really test you at times, but the rewards are worth it when they are sorted. Yeah as for the 2.5 conversion, if you can find a good 2.5 then yes, probably worth it. I intend doing the same to my 320 but the current 2.0 just sings along so sweetly I think I will keep driving it for a bit longer. Can you post a pic of the rear please?.
  22. The author of the E30 Restoration Bible says that 16" is as big as you should go - but what would he know eh?
