Which is what the guy in my last post has done...

Check this link out for some very good info and pics of an installation. The guy has a whole heap of vids at the end - a good read. http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45839

And yet the E28 M535i were also produced with an automatic trans - straight from the factory.

I think this must be one of the most debated topics on the forum - closely behind lowering. I have attached some scans from the E30 brochure on the topic of accessories. Here is some further info for you... "There are several BMW models to which BMW Motorsport made changes without being full M-Cars. Vehicles which have been modified by BMW Motorsport but are not full M-Cars may feature plain 'M' badges with no number, whilst full M-Cars have 'M' badges with the model number. E.g. 'M3' or 'M5'. It should be noted however that the Z3/Z4-based M Roadster and M Coupe bore numberless 'M' badges as standard fitment. For example, the E28 M535i featured suspension, styling, and transmission improvements over the standard 535i. These changes were carried out by BMW Motorsport, thus the car carried 'M' stripe badges on the front grille and boot, but not the full 'M5' badging. The E28 M5 was sold along side the M535i. Motorsport modifications have been made to almost every BMW model, hence it is not unusual to see 'standard' BMW's with 'M' badges. The opposite occurred with the 850CSi, an M car in all but name; it had a BMW M sourced engine and its VIN indicated that it was developed by BMW Motorsport, like all other M cars. It was possible that a true M8 was in development; however, this M8 was cancelled for reasons known only to BMW." sourced from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M

I took the next quiz at the end of the page to find out how much you are worth in bed per hour. I'm off to the bank on Monday with the results ... My wife however insists that it will be me who owes money !! http://hellarity.us/worth/index.php

Depends on the brand of springs for a start, but yeah that's probably reasonable. If you want to cut a little of the cost, it is a straight forward and easy job to do the rear shocks yourself, and also the springs if you have a helper. I did my shocks and springs on the rear and got the garage to do the fronts as I didn't have a spring compressor for the struts.

You might be right as my car was originally from Sth Africa. Then it was exported to Japan and finally a few years later into NZ. And even with a history like that it has over the three years or so that I have owned it, it has proven to be very reliable.

Don't get too despondent about it - they were only upgrades at the factory that anyone can add later on. Just checked out my chassis no on those sites and somewhere my car has grown another couple of doors!!
-
Cheers Eagle - makes perfect sense. Will look forward to viewing your cars (the BMW's that is !!) in the forum.

I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's becoming worthless, I think the frustrating aspect is that there are a core element that do not seem to take on board the advice that is given to them and also some that pose the same old "how low can I go" questions time and time again. And while young people continue to see merit in lowering their cars to the road, we will keep getting these questions in this forum. There are also quite a few of the younger members that do ask questions and listen to advice and a few more that add a bit of humour to the board. Other than banning people who actively encourage others to act in a dangerous or stupid fashion I'm not sure what else you can do. The one thing here that annoyed me more than anything was thinking that a member of the police was reading through this forum (for what purpose) and yet "as a watching member" contributing nothing! Maybe it would be useful to have someone who is a member or the Police contributing with information about the legalities of modifications etc??? My thoughts anyway.
-
Well no its not personal opinion as to what is safe and what isn't - its the law. Fairly clear I would've thought. Best of luck though - I think most of us oldies can still remember when our cars came first and the law second.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SAVE-GAS-FU...1QQcmdZViewItem Actually I might get a set of those to give to my Mum for baking cookies !

If it sounds like a scam then it probably is - a simple resistor that does all that???? "We have studied and figured out your vehicle's performance relies on an Air/Fuel ratio in order to function properly.".....really? You learn something every day! (Sarcasm intended)

I always park my BMW in a corner park at a super market and then ONLY if I have to - generally even parking on the street is preferable. And the really annoying thing is that its not always the low life scum with vandelistic tendencies that do the hit and run, its the middle aged woman in an oversized 4WD that bang into your pride and joy and just drive off as if nothing has happened.
-
And get a load of the threat on the website if you even think about leaving negative feedback..."If Negative Feedback is left for us after all parameters of this auction are met by Grille-Tech, Negative Feedback will be left to your eBay account, eBay will be notified and legal action could result." - loser!!

Just mind those B&G springs - I found mine lowered a lot more than what they said on the box

need a radiator in very good condition (both visually and functionally) for a pre facelift 320i auto. Has anyone got one they wish to sell?
-
Do you know if these fit the pre facelift? Cheers.

Welcome - nice car - how long have you had it and what do you think so far?

e34 camber caster kit+bilstein hd's
ducatiss replied to rowanhol's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Maybe you should put some better springs in. Dont go super low. HD's should be fine with a moderate drop. -
Many thanks Glenn for the info.

seeking help to rectify instrument cluster problems
ducatiss replied to E28 Master of diguises's topic in Electrical system
Well the easiest thing for you may well be to go into a car wreckers and see if you can source another complete unit. I think he fault is in the cluster itself from what you have described rather than in the sensors. As already said, most likely your problems stem from the onboard SI board batteries. These batteries can also split and corrode shorting out the board. If the board is still ok, you can unsolder the existing batteries and either solder in new ones (the hard way) or preferably, solder them into a remote battery holder that you would get from the likes of Dick Smith so that you can easily change them in the future. I would still price an E28 cluster as the price may be quite reasonable. You could also check Trademe as there are often a few 5 series being parted out. I ended making up one good cluster out of three here !! -
It would have to be one of the tidiest E30's I have seen - very very nice!
