  10. BMW E39 540i 230,000km 4.4ltr V8 Loads of power and torque. Keeps pulling the whole way through. Full repair history from me and previous owners. Cooling system has been overhauled in the past year. Few issues that need addressing: Wheel bearing needs replacing. I have a bmw wheel bearing. It just needs to be fitted. Needs new rear tyres, fronts only have 2000 kms on them so practically brand new. Goodyear f1's asymmetrical Drivers side seat connector has broken so the driving position is stuck in my position (good if you have long legs). It just needs reconnecting. drivers side front skirt got caught on a kerb and came off. I still have this so the new owner can repair should they want to. Has slight shudder around 80kms. Have replaced a lot of the steering and suspension components (receipts to prove) but havent managed to get rid of the shudder just yet. Also has steering shake when braking. in the mornings especially when its cold the engine idles a bit rough. Vacuum leak perhaps?, easy to fix but never did as once its upto temp it runs fine. The steering wheel material has started to rip which is more of an eyesore than anything. An upholsterer should be able to fix easily enough Never had any issues with the engine or gearbox. Good thing about the earlier E39 540i's is they are slightly more powerful than the 99 onward models and does not have the vanos (variable valve timing) as these can be prone to failure and resulting in eye watering repair bills. This does not have it so that is a very big plus! Air suspension was pulled out and replaced with coilovers by a previous owner. Beautiful comfort especially on the open roads! Taken this from Wellington to Auckland on many occasion and always been a fantastic drive and comfortable. I upgraded from the wood trim to the titanium brushed trim and upgraded from the small nav screen to the bigger widescreen and accompanying tv module. I still have the wood trim if the new owner wants to revert back but it has been painted over (failed attempt at making it silver) so would need the paint to be stripped off it. Have a set of style 65 wheels (no tyres) spare as I found original style 65's for cheap and swapped to them so if the new owner wants them they can have them hard wired for V1 Removable Towbar (not been used for towing but for photography purposes) All interior bulbs replaced with LEDs Retrofitted LED angle eyes which looks great. Other than those things its ran like a dream for me the past 2 years. Ive loved owning her but I need a 4x4 so going for a Range Rover vogue mainly because they are an E39 underneath so i know the engines and gearboxes are bullet proof. Looking $6000 and open to offers as im looking to get the vogue soon so need the garage space. This is a photo from a little while back. Will get some more taken this week and anyone who wants them, send me your email address and i'll get them to you. mosslinephotography@gmail.com 021 079 1172 Cheers guys, would be good to see it go to another E39 enthusiast. Chris
  11. Ok good to know.... Where would I find the discontinued date of the eagle F1's?
  12. Does anyone know when goodyear stopped producing the F1's and whats a good shelf life for tyres that have been sitting not being used?
  13. Ive heard that the powerflex can be a little too stiff and get squeaky overtime. The Meyle's seemed to be the better choice for most.
  14. Is there a supplier of these bushings in NZ?
  15. Could you send me the link to the powerflex bushings for the E39? Im going to replace them and would prefer something more substantial than the original parts....
  16. bump, anyone else had something similar to this?
  17. Ok well i'll be in touch once ive got some more news on it. Cheers Brent
  18. Im down in Wellington, The spare driveshaft you have... How old is it? What sort of price are you looking for it?
  19. Hi guys, i wondered if anyone could shed some light on a problem im having with my E39. I had the centre bearing hanger replaced on my driveshaft a couple of months back and it got rid of the horrible noise I was having but im still getting vibrations and horrendous wheel shake when braking 90% of the time. Sometimes if I give it a boot full there is no vibrations or harsh shaking when braking. Its almost like by giving it the beans is straightens itself out? Also when its really wet outside and the spray gets to the driveshaft I can hear it knocking against the underneath of the car. This was happening before i got the centre bearing done and still happens now but only in really wet conditions. I wonder if maybe my driveshaft is not balanced properly or something..... Has anyone else had something similar? fyi I've replaced the engine mounts, gearbox and diff mounts and the thrust arm bushings are good. It has new tyres, all properly balanced and aligned etc. Discs are not warped either. Is there a place in NZ that does refurbished driveshafts for BMW's? Cheers in advance guys!
  20. Laser interceptor seem to be the best brand out there. Nothing better than knowing your countermeasured upto the teeth! Good luck!
  21. Thats exactly how mine is setup. Just need to do the rear headrest stealth instal to stop those cheeky f**kers breaking into my car. (mid day at bunnings in Lyall bay, little wankers)
  22. Valentine 1 is the only one to go with. Plus you know what direction the threat is coming from. Ive had many and the V1 is by far the best. Get Jammers too!
  23. I got my V1 and all accesories second hand off trademe for $450 so its not a bad price at all. Everyone wants to sell these things for 800 plus. Thats extortion!! Its old tech (very good tech mind) but not worth 800+
  24. Does anyone have a second hand battery that will fit the E39?
