Regardless of the cost of manufacture, I find it hard to believe that some manufacturers have a legit basis for their charges other than "you can't get it from anyone else, nah nah nah nah nah". Toyota Avensis (Caldina sedan) in the UK - we had two keys, button on one would not work. I took it apart, the chip itself was fine, as was the key - just needed a new case. Would Toyota sell me one though? F*** no! "You can only have a complete new key as we don't sell key parts, that'll be GBP123.50 please, and another 40GBP for coding it". 7GBP on ebay later, I have a used replacement case. Not ideal, but it worked. Can't say it doesn't leave a bad taste in the mouth...

lol, I have to make myself useful here somehow! Nah, no grey area - no GST claim if solely residential landlord activity - it's a GST exempt activity/business, so any expenditure that goes with it is treated the same way, even if GST is imposed. Come income tax time though, the expenditure is claimed in full / GST inclusive - GST registered businesses remove all GST from their income / expenditure totals to calculate the income tax liability.

*Steal, not steel... GST system here is pretty simple compared to the UK and Australia... would rather have our system with a few exclusions and a $400 limit than say the UK's VAT system and their $30(!) limit. Kids clothes? No VAT. Adult clothes? VAT. Eat in? VAT. Takeaway? No VAT. Or something like that - the list goes on... Without knowing anything about the levels of tax knowledge here, domestic rental has no GST, commercial rental (Business premises) do. Regardless of what kind of entity that owns the property, residential landlords cannot register for GST; commercial ones can, as they would be over the threshold of $60k (increased a few years ago). Those that own both residential and commercial would be limited to expenses relating to commercial properties, and any curly expenses (ones involving both) would have to be apportioned accordingly. There are members on here that own both, and there are threads etc about it.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone had a trade account at Avon Engineering supplies in Christchurch please? There are a few odds and ends specific to them I’d like to buy at well, less than retail. I'll be paying cash, there will be no comebacks to you re: warranty / quality etc. (mainly because the brand in question no longer exists) Thanks in advance for any help!

E30 Coupe Seats and braided lines *and Haynes manual*

You haynes manual, is it the red hardback one please? -
Thanks for that - my friend contacted them, but from the sounds of it, they are more interested in companies with a number of surveyors rather than a one man band. Oh well, the search continues!

Hi guys, a friend of mine is starting out as a quantity surveyor. I forget what software he was using, but he didn't like it. Are there any quantity surveyors on here that have software they would recommend? I could have sworn I remember someone on here being in the field, but my mind escapes me. Thanks for your help!

Don't forget to refer to your real lights & indicators in the listing, as they are either aftermarket, or the harder to find Beemer ones, and quite sought after. Good luck with the sale!

If its a set of four, split the box into two packages - it's cheaper, and was so for me when I shipped TRD suspension to the UK.

Bear in mind also that as these little guys walk around, they leave a trail for their ant buddies to follow, hence their wandering all over it... I take it you've removed upholstery, boot material, had a look under the frame and wheels?

* Sold ** I have a 1990 BMW 535 E34 that I am now selling on TM. It's a pretty reluctant sale, but my family and I are going overseas, and I could be there for anywhere between several months and a few years. If I don't sell this, it will stay with my family here and probably rot in a field. It is / was a HD12 - a highly specced UK import, and not that far off of an M5 at the time. It comes with: * a 3.5 litre straight six engine * manual gearbox (and pedal box, and driveshaft, and ECU) - gear know is broken however. * limited slip diff * Motorsport body kit / bumpers * Motorsport suspension * Motorsport leather sport seats * Motorsport M-Tech steering wheel * BMW tool kit, and wheel hub removal tool * the radiator looks pretty good, although a coolant reminder does come up on the dashboard. From the build Sheet: S200A KATALYSATOR - ENTFALL without catalytic converter S209A LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL (25%) Differential lock 25% S226A SPORTS SUSPENSION SETTINGS Sports suspension settings S291A BMW LM SCHMIEDERAD/KREUZSPEICH BMW LA wheel, cross spoke, 2-section S335 M TECHNIC SPORTPAKET S401A SLIDING/VENT ROOF, ELECTRIC Lift-up-and-slide-back sunroof, electric S481A SPORT SEATS F DRIVER/FRONT PASSENGER Sports seat S498A HEADRESTS IN REAR, MECHANIC. ADJUSTABLE Headrests, rear, mechanically adjustable S500A HEADLIGHT WASHER SYS/INTENSIVE CLEANING Headlight wipe/wash/Intensive cleaning S570A STRONGER ELECTRICITY SUPPLY Reinforced power supply S708A M-SPORT LEATHER STEERING WHEEL II M sports steering wheel leather L812A ENGLAND VERSION NATIONAL VERSION GREAT BRITAIN S850A ADD FUEL TANK The body has rust on the tops of the C pillars, and the rear wings. The car is de-registered, and has done 193km. I'm pretty firm on $1600 - getting the good bits separately would cost a fair bit more than that, and if push comes to shove, I will take the risk and store it. I have more pics available if needed, let me know if you wish to come have a look. Thanks for looking!

While I'll be reading the more knowledgeable members to post their knowledge, short answer is yes. There was a similar query I posted on Toyspeed as I could has sworn I saw a FXGT Corolla in Hawkes Bay with a supercharger. Upon wondering if it was feasible as an engine swap, someone pointed out that if the engine you are swapping for is more powerful than the one it came with, it needs a cert.

Advice please - ship BMW E34 Donor car to Oz or sell now?
Sick Puppy replied to Sick Puppy's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, I thought as much. I hate failing in projects... I'm sure I'll get used to it though. If I knew we were going to be staying in the UK, I'd have been getting rid of it no questions asked - plenty of them over there. Query was more about Oz and whether it is worth having non-Oz car projects over there, I don't think the availability or pricing is there, but thought I should ask around first. I'll talk to mate in Oz to see if he wants it - since he's related and asked about it three years ago, I figure he should have first dibs! Mark, I'll get back to you ASAP too. -
Advice please - ship BMW E34 Donor car to Oz or sell now?
Sick Puppy replied to Sick Puppy's topic in General Discussion
I'll post some up tomorrow - it's substantial, and looks to have worsened from a bodged prior repair. -
Hi everyone, I have a deregistered 1990 E34 535. It is a HD12 and manual, with a LSD, leather sport seats, larger sway bars and a body kit. What it also has however is rust; rust in the C-pillars and rear flanks as well as the doors. I don’t believe the body is economic to repair. It’s expensive enough repairing rust on structural parts you can see, let alone the stuff you can’t see and haven’t found yet. I have no worries about the body being buggered though. My plan/project was to reshell the go-fast/look pretty bits onto a donor car: gearbox (possibly engine), plus the bits above, as well as the usual, headers, nice wheels, bushes, etc. Money aside, it was more to give me something to do, like a lego set, only bigger. I missed out on a perfect donor car a short while back, but money was tight at the time, so meh. Problem is we’re going over to the UK for a few months, and the likelihood is that we will be going to Australia, probably to live. I can store it here if we're coming back, but if we're not... So, my questions: Can anyone please tell me what the BMW market is like in Australia? Are these cars common over there, and what are parts availability/pricing like? My hoarding instincts and my wish to finish a project tell me I want to ship it over there and finish the job, but on the other hand, I can’t see the point if buying the parts and donor car are going to cost $$$. I saw a similar condition and situation example go for about AUD$4k on Ebay Australia, and a friend over there has offered me what I paid for it (as well as shipping), so there are options I guess. Also, I understand that in Oz due to emissions laws over there I cannot put an older model engine into a newer model car, even if it’s the same model of car, e.g. a 1990 535 engine into the body of a 1993 535, even though they are both E34’s. Is this correct? My initial inclination is to not faff about, and stick it on Trademe. Of course, that’s without knowing anything whatsoever about the Aussie market, so any thoughts or advice on this would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone, as per my other thread, a friend of mine wants to upgrade from her ageing E36 318. She is looking for: * late model E39 or early E60. * Sedan or Touring is fine, * Must be auto * while she'd be happy with a 520, I'm thinking that that size engine would be a tad underpowered? * she wants it to have a proper rear middle seatbelt and the fitting clips for a child seat. Any help here much appreciated - ta!
