  1. I saw a Bimmersport sticker on the back of a fully sign written 02ish Honda Accord with the license plate MAGDUP yesterday, funny BMW that is..
  2. I think I might just make my own for the rear eh.
  3. I think you may have some difficulities with the stereo type you are going to be put into so it would probably be best for you if you have a pretty clean record and get a good lawyer, I know that in Auckland you get targeted heavily for what kind of car you drive. One of my first cars was a non-turbo, FWD Subaru Legacy wagon that was lowered on 17"s and I was pulled over literally everyday on my way to high school and questioned about everything from noisey exhaust (it was the factory pee shooter) to illegal tint on my windsheild (factory UV cut on the top, every car has it) and out of all of that and it never went further than a roadside conversation because I was respectful, had a clean record and maintained my cool, even when I was too shouted at and lectured. The only advice I can give is make as good an impression as you can on the judge and get a good lawyer. Good luck, I hope you really are innocent otherwise I will look like a mug for supporting you haha.
  4. How much? Pics? They would be pretty average in the front but I would like them in the back, just for the wank factor.
  5. That is actually quite a good idea but M5V8 is right, don't want to lose the sound stage.
  6. Because I already have a pair of Digital Designs 6x9s that I bought for my last car and held on to when I sold it, I was thinking about putting them into the bimmer as an in between while I plan out my sub setup
  7. That makes a bit more sense, I haven't really looked into it, I was just kind of going on insurance purposes. Hyper are doing a Mongoose 4 Star and tints for 600 so I am pretty keen on that one.
  8. Yeah larger subs are definitely on the cards, either a 15in SPL single or twin 12"s. I will have to try out some new speakers with the current amp and see how I go with that Extra question, thoughts on the 'DYNATRON ALARM D7800 5 STAR' http://www.hyper.co.nz/drive/security/dyna...id/6841/product Or any other recommendations for alarms?
  9. Woah that is quite intense, there is really like NO basss coming from those sub woofers though? As for the door speakers they look a lot bigger than I expected, there should be more than enough room to mount some 6.5"s but those tweeters look a bit difficult to work with and I want to keep everything looking factory :/ I have a full set of Alpine Type R crossovers so that shouldn't be a worry, do I need to run any extra wires for the tweeters though?
  10. My current sound set up as far as I can tell from looking is something unknown with the parcel tray but factory so it may be what you have said Brent, components and tweeters in each of the back doors and the same in the front doors with a monitor and tape player in the front with a cd stacker in the boot. I am loving the sound of the DICE unit as at the moment I am using one of those things you put into a tape deck and plug your iPod into. The current stereo is amazing at low - mid volume for the highs and the mids but lacks the thump that I want, and I am willing to sacrifice a lot of boot space for that, my Subaru Legacy wagon had so much ICE that I had no back seats, of course in this case I want something a lot more comfortable. Will amplifying the stock components prove to be worth while to get more clarity at high volumes as the begin to distort or should I bite the bullet and change them? The subs in the parcel tray is something I have never heard of in any car, I have to admit I am quite impressed with that one. Can someone link me to a DICE unit that is for sale or sell me one ?
  11. Hey thanks for the reply, sorry but I need the ones that are the brown wood type unfortunately
  12. I have looked through heaps of threads and haven't found anything that I can really understand so I was wondering if someone could give me a 'For Dummies' guide on a few things. First off, I want to change my rear speakers to 6x9s, the ones in the parcel tray. I know of a conversion kit for the speaker mounts for an E36 but I am unsure if I can get the same thing for the E39. I also want know know if I can use my dinosaur Fusion Powerplant FP12044 amplifier to amplify the factory speakers in the front and the 6x9s I plan on installing still using the factory head unit monitor thing. I have seen in other threads that behind my backseats is a metal backing in some BMWs, does my 99 E39 have this? I haven't had an oppurtunity to check, and if it does have it, how do I punch out the ski hole to port a sub woofer into the boot? I don't plan on hiding people in my boot so getting a bit of noise out of there for the stereo will be all good. Lastly I have two questions about the monitor. 1. How, in idiot terms, do I run a wire into my boot so I can play videos of my iPod to it, and 2. How do I get it to play when the car is moving and is that legal to do? Of course if it isn't legal I just wont do it, I thought it may be a WOF issue.

  14. Nice E36, I really like the height and how its a uniform height front and back, much cleaner than usual I think
  15. Unfortunately I am unable to put photos up today because I when I got home from work (left the car in the driveway I discovered that it had been leaking water all day from just behind the front passenger wheel. So I did a bit of detective work and eventually found when I removed the passenger side aircon or heater filter thing that underneath, around the small box with a bunch of important looking wires in it, there was a puddle and I have no idea where it came from, I can't find any links between it and the car's cooling system and I can sort of tell that someone has been in around there before because there was a $2 coin nearby (good score!!). So what I think has happened is in the heavy rain yesterday, water has run down the windshield and gotten into here some how and puddled and throughout today it has slowly drained out because when I started to mess around in there the water leaking out of the bottom of the car (didn't manage to get all of the skidplates and pans off) massively increased and then ran out. This was also the first time I checked the water level in the car as I just got it last night, which was pretty low :/. So the plan for tomorrow is to top up the water with some coolant and if water leaks out of the same place again is green and happens in again, I know I have a problem with the radiator, if it continues to be completely clean as it was today (another reason I think it may have been rain water) then I must be sweet . If anyone knows anything about what is going on here please help as I do really know nothing about BMWs and am just kinda taking a stab in the dark here, I have mainly worked on imports and old V8s, cheers
  16. As soon as I get an opportunity it to post some I will, just need a chance to get outside
  17. Ah it is a Hartge 525i And I have no idea of the difference between it and a normal 525i, help is needed
  18. Hey everyone I am a new BMW owner, I just got myself a 99 Hartge E39, this is my first BMW, I am fresh out of the world of Subarus and Mitsubishis and haven't had a euro since my first car. I know a whole lot of nothing about BMWs so I will probably be looking for a lot of advice. The car is entirely standard aside from some aftermarket tail lights, which I really don't like so if anyone is looking for a swap haha hit me up. I have just got the car home so it is sitting in the garage desperately awaiting a good clean and polish and I have no photos of it yet but as soon as I clean it all up I will be uploading pictures
