Hi everyone, My dearly loved Series 4 Grand Coupe has finally reached the time to have all the brake's renewed. I dreaded the day and here it is. The car is from 2017 and out of warranty, so I was thinking to bringing it to an independent mechanic rather than official dealer but the cost still is way over 2,000 dollars, which leaves me wishing I could afford it but that might take quite a few months savings. I brought it to a workshop here in Wellington to be checked and was told it needs all four changed, rotor, pads, the lot. Any advice on how to get that cost down somehow? Any of you have advice on how to change those yourself? Is it doable? Or perhaps getting the parts from overseas (how to get the right one..?) and then bringing the car to have them fitted somewhere? I am really in uncharted territory here and for now I will keep the car in the garage as I do not want to risk driving around with worn brakes.. Really appreciate any info/advice on this! Thank you very much, Joan

Hey team, my rotors need replacing on my 2006 E91 335i (manual). Is the current suggestion as per the below thread still the way to go? Which I think was these RDA rotors and some stoptech (Sport Brake?) pads? A pair of front rotors is $461.13NZD which is cheaper than FCP Euro and demon tweeks. Micks garage was cheaper again but just bog standard uncoated rotors.

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone around has done a 5 lug swap on a e30 318i? I'm aware the 318i came with drum brakes in the rear. I think this is going to be the cheapest way to upgrade all the brakes for certification, as the e30 I am looking at buying has a pretty hefty engine conversion. What I'm hoping for is some way to do it with parts I can find at a local pick-a-part or similar (e36, e46 parts). Should I just take the entire rear assembly from an e36 and mix and match parts from the e30 or? I'm aware theres a bunch of ways to do it from having a look on the net but I'm not sure any of them work with the rear drum brakes on the 318i. I could go the route of purchasing a big brake kit for the certification but that costs like $1200 just for the front OR rear. Im happy to spend about that to do front AND rear. If anyone could give me some guidance (i.e. parts list, etc) that would be super helpful. Cheers.

Would a bad ABS module/pump be responsible for a clunk noise when braking? It also locks up the brakes for a few seconds when braking, but it only does it when I start driving. It goes away after doing it once or twice and then braking is normal. ABS and BRAKE lights go on and the traction light (the light with the triangle and ! in the middle). Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey guys, So my brake master cylinder in my E30 has pretty well shat itself, and it seems like getting a new replacement E30 unit is nigh on impossible from most of my usual parts outlets. Does anyone know of anywhere you can source a decent one from or ideally where I can source a decent E32 750 unit from to help get a bit better pedal feel in the old girl?? If anyone can help locate a decent one of either it would be much appreciated!! Cheers Mike
