Clutch kit brought from independent to suit M52, but doesn't work (fork/bearing will not reach to engage, even with E21 taller bearing). Cost me 9 months of replacing hydraulics, trying different bleeding methods and engine in/out multiple times to figure out. Hopefully someone can identify it and can get some use out of it, as it has a bit of life left and is one of the better used kits I've seen recently. Just very light surface rust. $180 (what i paid) Collection only, Kapiti

Hi all, I’ve just acquired a mint automatic E30 318 facelift coupe with a very ticky M40 and am wanting to swap in a m42 and Getrag 240 out of an E36 318. I understand the engine and gearbox bolt up to the M40 engine mounts/arms and I can use the loom and ECU from the E36. My question is regarding the prop-shaft and diff – Will either the e30 or e36 prop-shaft bolt in or will I need to source an E30 manual prop-shaft and am I correct in assuming that the E36 diff would be preferable? I’ve also read that I will need a E30is (M42) exhaust manifold – can anyone confirm if this is the case? I am also looking to do a coil on plug conversion from an M52, a AFM to MAF Conversion from an M44 and a single mass flywheel from an M20 as well as some sort of chip which is yet to be decided. If anyone has done this conversion and can offer some advice or knows of a donor car for sale that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Shaun.

Hey all, Wanting to purchase an E36 M42B18 Engine Package, preferably with all electrics and ancillaries, I could also be interested in an M44B19 engine package also but would prefer a complete M42B18. Ideally wanting to spend no more than $450 on a low mileage engine (with proof) although I'm not overly concerned on mileage. I'm not interested in any engines with a blown head gasket, previous overheating or other associated issues. Located in Napier, Hawkes Bay. Happy to pay for shipping although anywhere within 3 hour travel would be highly convenient. Contact number: 0212034089, I'm not overly active on the forums. Thanks Richard

I've put super low springs in my E30 which has brought it down to a reasonable height....however, my sump now sits unprotected in a horribly vulnerable spot. The U.S sites I've seen suggest using washers/bushes of some kind or other to raise the engine which sounds like a terrible idea to me. Has anyone come across any sort of custom sump or solution to get these things higher?

Recently became the proud new owner of a particular brilliantrot e30 e318is (+turbo). When I bought it, the diff was making noise, the clutch was (and still is) slipping due to a cheap replacement, the short shift lever was grinding on the driveshaft and it failed a warrant due to the missing highbeam. I've since fixed (or had fixed) all but the clutch and just on the hunt for a decent road clutch that'll take the power it's putting out. I believe the motor was done by Kayne Barrie (or one of his apprentices) in '03 and has been through a few owners in and around Auckland. Here for the knowledge and the know-how that graces these forums and hopefully attend a few meets. Sorry for the shitty quality I-phone photos.
