bravo 35 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 (edited) Our weather sucks again. Took some pics and a cheesy vid from the coastuard boat. Sorry if you already know it all - I was out rescuing n00bs who didn't have enough sense to stay off the water. I love this one.... Yacht full of water after hitting rocks being towed to safe anchorage... Vid: You tube link Wasn't quite as bad as March flood, but still very nasty. Pity vid doesn't show full extent of what I got up to today, but think 7 hours in the worst conditions I've ever seen in the bay (waves crashing over the marina etc), about 50m visibility looking for some dude in a life raft, pulling yacht and crew off rocks, etc etc. Adrenalin rush though. Seems to have settled now. Emma - how is Auralyn II? BTW you know who was on the yacht we towed that had been holed on the rocks. Last name is that of a well-known NZ boat building family........ First name commonly shortened to "Dick". He had kayaked out to it to see if he could help, but his kayak got blown away and he was stuck on it while it was slowly sinking, so put up a flare - absolutely the right thing to do. B*Emz 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Kidding?! That's sh*t, Yeah I know who your talking about. The Woods had said something about it while I was ringing around in a fluff lastnight. Auralyn's all good, had several hours of near-panic in the middle of it all, not helped by the fact parents are somewhere in Aus, uncontactable as hell! Haha our trees aren't so good... Oh joyous Northland!

M325is 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 I swear I nearly got throwen off my feet up the top of the hunua ranges last night! Ive never been so scared of the weather before! This is one crazy winter! Apparently the highest winds were up to 180km/hour!!
Andrew 30 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Driving over the harbour bridge was badass - it usually wobbles at the best of times but this was something else. Our letter box got owned by the wind - that's about it.

jpp 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2007 Had a tree crash onto my e30, plus wind blew the plastic off the window with the broken glass - so I've got scratches and a broken window and a few wet seats. Nothing comparable to up North though!

B*Emz 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 Our norfolk pine tried to take revenge for all the pruning we've given it missed our house by a very close margin, taking the underground irrigation lines with it. Not too worried about the horses water troughs though, I'd say they'll be kept full for a while yet with the rain! That guy who's working away in the midst of destruction is onto it //Ollie is no-where to be seen// - even more onto it I say!
B*Emz 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 Oh and Graham, that wasn't Richards boat- talked to him today, said thanks for rescuing him though. Did it hit the Brother rocks?
bravo 35 Report post Posted July 11, 2007 (edited) Oh and Graham, that wasn't Richards boat- talked to him today, said thanks for rescuing him though. Did it hit the Brother rocks? I know - Like I said, he kayaked out to rescue it but lost his kayak. It was a friends. Him and his olds are looking after Reedy's while they are away. It hit the rocks off Reedy's landing.
