OK, a bit of progress since the broken block incident:

- Obtained a new block thanks to Martyyn, BTW his M30 turbo is a nice build, hope somebody has bought it by now!

- Block was honed and decked by the AWESOME guys at engine specialties, I know a bunch of other BMW guys use them too, they are the men!

- all new gaskets and bearings provided by Carl at Engine Parts (next to Engine Specialties workshop) If you ever need any engine parts go see Carl (and tell him I sent you)

- Salvaged the low comp pistons and lightened rods from the old block

- Match ported and polished the head while it was all in pieces

- Bought a twin plate (kevlar) clutch and custom ali flywheel from the states. 6.915 Kg versus my lightened steel setup at 15.2Kg. Was made for an M30 turbo over there, the guy didnt want to use it because he wanted a flywheel with the timing marks for his factory loom which used the sensors in the gearbox!

- Pieced the whole thing together and bunged it in the hole

- Started it up, so shortly it is time to find a dyno before I break anything *again*.... :)

Just had the turbo &*^*&^ itself as we upped the static oil pressure on the new motor. Didnt change the restrictor on the turbo feed and blew its poor little seals out :)

Maybe its time to fit the big turbo.....

Got some pics of how it looks as of when the motor went in.

Exhaust manifold was by Damien Martin of A1 turbos, it does the job. If I did it again I would bottom mount for sure :)

Oh and you owe me $50, you CAN use an old style oil filter housing, just need to put 1 grub screw in the secondary return that BMW already drilled and tapped inside the filter housing mount on the block :)

I was only joking, you are still an absolute legend for sorting me with a block! I may still use the newer filter housing to make a remote filter setup, I HATE these cartridge oil filters.... :)

I think I will be saving my pennies to buy your turbo block as a spare at the rate I am going....

OK, finally a few updates (excuse the terrible photos)

- 5 stud e36 suspension

- BBS RS 17x10.5 & 17x8's

- E30 M3 guards - fibreglass

- fibreglass boot & bonnet

- Garrett GT35R BB turbo & 50mm external wastegate

- wilwood 6 pot calipers & 330mm rotors

- fixed back seats with head restraints

- revised front and rear coilover set

- front and rear strut braces

Think thats it?

Been for a few more tuning drives, really starting to put a smile on my face now. Next is dyno time...

Custom RS? The 10.5" shells only came on 15" rims

They look to be re drilled centres, so what part number are they? Not 197 or 212's?

Yes Custom RS's, were 17x7 and 17x8 5x114's, I re-drilled to 5x120 and used 3.5" outer lips on one pair, left the others standard and repainted the centres. runs 235/40 fronts and 275/40 rears

Awesome looking build mate!

But why two intercoolers? Seems quite unnecessary with a GT35R. Remember all that space takes time to fill up and time constitutes as turbo lag. Mind you its not going to be too bad seeing as the turbo is BB and your not exactly shy on the displacement side.

Cant wait for the videos! Keep it coming.
