E28 Race car.

Recommended Posts

The E28 535i that Stephen Mchugh raced was running 14's, and that was a stock engine and suspension that wasn't working too well. Would love to build one of these myself, very underrated car I think. It would be great with a 3.8 S38 tweaked up!

true , very under rated car .

had my e28 at a puke test day , and a 2002-2006 year SS commodore 6spd 5.7L couldn't keep up to me in my 22year old half million km e28 .

and my mate with a fairly stock e28 M535i (better suspension set up than mine) was there too and the v8 couldn't pull away and my mate finally got by him .

all this talk about e28s as race cars, when is someone going to build an e34 race car? Surely you could strip quite a bit of weight out of them and your bound to achieve a better handling car than an e28? Just thoughts here

Ahhh, what a way to spend a Sunday morning, pottering around in the shed by yourself, doing this.

The engine is in, and all the brackets etc work well. :D

I've had to make a new engine mount for the drivers side, and will have to change the brake booster, missed fitting by 10mm, thought about the big hammer, but it is Sunday, so took it out instead, I think my E34 one is smaller, so should fit straight in.

Now also has the centre console for all the gauges and switches, and the required number of pedals, 3pedals will now be happy. :)

Modified an E30 gearbox cross member, fits like a glove.

Next is driveshaft and diff, hopefully off for a cage this week, then the wiring episode will begin. :o

Found them on Tme, advertised as 5 Riken mesh rims, bought for $350, got there and found they'd never been fitted up to a car, been in a showroom all their lives, 20 years, and there were now 7 rims, paid $400, got three deep dish like that one, -10 offset, and four, not so deep 20 offset, perfect for me.

Just lucky sometimes I guess..

On the flip side, the E34 booster's the same as the E28, so no go, open to suggestions, smaller diameter booster needed.

Dave - you might need to revert to the hammer option <_<

there is a later e32 735i model that has a double thickness one that has a smaller diameter.

try the wrecker in papakura.

i think he has one

How come you didn't go with slotted rotors? They also like like standard pads - surely you will go to an EBC or Endless pad?

Will go that way in time, just want to get out and play now.

Using this season as a learning curve, hope to start modding over this season and next.
