tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 Rolls Royce Merlin v12 ? but seriously there are heaps of cool engine swaps on here, couple of different SR20 swaps, i recall a thread about an RB20 Swap and there is even a member with a 2jZ E30 Of course Riley's lexus v8 E30 has been mentioned. you could Even go Mikes Route and Turbo your existing engine alongside mega squirt engine management. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 imo i would stick with the m20 engine. there bloody strong motors and have alot of potential. a set of forged rods and pistons. metal head gasket. o ringd block. maby stonger crank and a few other bits and peices and it would easily be good for 400hp and like 20psi or something silly

Small Block Chevy mate, Can take it out to 7 litres [ 430 cubes ] the only hiccup is the distributor is at the back of the block, so you might need to gas-axe a hole in the firewall [ better still gas-axe out the whole firewall and recess the engine back] These ol'donkeys can really "haul ass" check this out... mpdori 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2008 hey everyone thanks for all ur reply, i like the sound of just the m20 engine saves alot of stufing round, but alot of great ideas. i think i might take a look at some prices, or if anyone has done any of the conversions would be great to here wat it cost them roughly and how easy it was. cheers. Driftit 2078 Report post Posted October 9, 2008 Best bang for buck with massive potential. 2JZGTE or 1JZGTE SR20DET are far too expensive. RB20DET's are gutless. You at least want the RB25DET from the RB family. Another interesting swap that I have not seen in the E30's yet would be the VQ30DET from the gloria. Massive motor though. Not sure it would fit. CamB 48 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 how long did that last for? one run of the strip? www.e30tech.com - danmartin's build thread. Sold while still running fine. He did have about $5k of manifolds (intake and exhaust).
kerrynzl 3 Report post Posted October 12, 2008 Just a quiet note. I think you'll find its "duct" tape, not duck tape. Being an expert in 100mph tape [ the racer variety ] , you are both correct. originally called Duct tape because it is used for air conditioner ducting in buildings. But the yanks have also marketed a brand of duct tape called "Duck Tape" [ it even has a cartoon picture of a duck on the roll ] Hey Gus! duct tape is better than a ballpeen hammer . you can use it for electrical repairs I have also seen duct tape used to fix steering components [ on a stockcar ]
