Recommended Posts

I remember seeing the build of this. And its taken forever, but, its worth it. Lots of pictures in the gallery!

Enjoy.

Nearly two years ago, in December 2006 we told you about an Australian fella that had just begun transforming a previous generation BMW M5 sedan (E39) into the ultimate V8-powered Ute (see here). Now the proud owner of the Down-Under El-Camino, Stuart Appleby from New South Wales, Australia announced that the BMW M5 Ute project has finally been completed. -Continued

While the vehicle has yet to be dyno-tested, the builders are saying that the M5’s tuned 4.9-liter V8 could make as much as 460 HP. Even though the conversion of an M5 into a Ute will certainly seem like sacrilege to many gearheads, we must admit that it is a very well executed one.

Sorry, not a fan. I've yet to see one of these ute conversions that has managed to fabricate a convincing looking rear end.

I read an issue of Performance BMW (the last I read once I saw the travesty) of some bloke who had built an E28 M5 ute.

Thankfully he hadn't destroyed a real M5, it was just a regular E28 with the M5 engine.... but god it was ugly!

it is very cool just something different to do why not be super unique ^_^ . Stretch that engineering envelope. shows what millionaire's do for fun lol i wouldn't mind owning it.

I suppose if you've got the money to throw at it and the time on your hands, aaaand you've got nothing better to to than put a tray on the back of an m5, then i suppose this is pretty "cool".

Great feat of engineering, making a bmw ute, but you've got to ask oneself "if it was to be done bmw would have done it", and they haven't. I could find many different/more productive ways to spend the large amount of cash that would've been thrown at it.

Sorry not a fan at all........ freakn aussies :(

I think it looks just ok, wouldnt bother with anything like this unless the rear end was involved in some type of accident first and would Rather see an e34 or e30 ute be done.
