bravo 35 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) What are they, and why. Pics please! You can choose modified examples as long as the entire package would still be $25k or less. Why $25k? Well once you hit $30k the options open up too much. Mine (for now): Any tastefully modified e30 - because e30's rock and they look hot, and they are so fun to drive, and really easy to modify e46 330i motorsport (manual) - fast, good looking, modern, and can be made to look awesome in standard motorsport trim just by adding some sweet wheels. e39 f/l 540i motorsport - as above but with a v8, and in black with the f/l treatment and a blacked kidney, these things look tough. e36 m3 evo - bang for buck - over 200kw in what some regard as the best handling saloon car in the world for pretty reasonable money. a mint 2002 with some simple mods - nothing beats a hot 2002. Haha - you're cheating big time on the $25k limit. There is no way #1 could be done for $25k, and the 2002 would have to be an aftermarket turbo (the real thing is $40k and up) and the E30 M3 would be a bit nasty at $25k. Yeah I agree - E28 M5 for under $25k very optimistic unless its a POS. Finding one would be even harder, haha.

jjs 64 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 Sorry, but the only BMW's I would have in my 5 cars under $25k would be a 2002tii and an facelift E39 540i Touring. The other three cars would be a Porsche 968 (maybe not a CS for under $25k), Mercedes-Benz W124 (pref E320) Cabriolet and a VW Golf R32 (Mk 4).

A very good friend of mine has a Mercedes W124 E320 sedan, thing goes like stink and still fully optioned (leather, electrics etc etc) he got it for 6k 3 years ago... Yes, he did get a good bargain but 25k is a bit much I would say (still a f**king awesome car especially in coupe). He is dying for an E500, can't imagine how hard that thing would go. bravo 35 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 Alot of the same things. Interesting how much people think they can modify an e30 for $25 k (Sam). You wouldn't even get close mate. Not doing it properly anyhow. Love how some people are thinking outside the box and choosing Alipnas etc. Never even thought of those!
martyyn 2 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 Are we talking about $25k all up, or $25k for each car ? If its 25k all up then an e32 Alpina B12 sitting next to an e34 M5 would take some beating, assuming I could source the B12 which is rather unlikely. So perhaps the M5 and an Alpina C2, or the C2 and an Alpina B10 bi-turbo. For a single car Id take a facelift e39 540 six speed manual touring, but I wouldnt expect to find any in NZ or perhaps an e39 Alpina B10 touring but again Id struggle to get one into the country. 540 motorsports are nice, but in reality they are everywhere now thanks to the cheap imports, so if I wanted something like that it would be an 'individual' e38 750iL with all the fruit. And scrap the 2002 Turbo, I was way off base on what these cost
