pjay 8 Report post Posted December 15, 2008 Oh and in reference to the Thread Title: 500 000 South African rands = 89 848.6771 New Zealand dollars So not all that much. If i earned exactly $89848 annually, i would be earning an extra $26248 annually on top of what i earn now. Who's a maths whiz on BS? Do it.. And no, i don't earn $63600 per year

pjay 8 Report post Posted December 15, 2008 (edited) Sorry, but no. Remember tax rates change by brackets. IE: Income up to $38000 taxed at <y>% $38000 up to $60000 taxed at a higher rate $60000 + taxed at yet a higher rate... Im sure you can find the percentages Edited December 15, 2008 by Pjay

$toffz 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 This must be very old (I've seen exactly the same letter with reference to British Pounds). But R500 000 will not get you very far today, esp when the tax rate for that salary will be 51%. And if they were to own a house in Hyde Park they would be looking around the R750k (Very bloody small) to upwards of R10Mill. Then consider an annual property tax of 10% so bank R200 000 to pay the tax man at the end of every year just for the luxury of owning your house (Average house would be about two mill). So that leaves the sweet lill piece of ass about R50 000, which she could buy two LV handbags for. Goodness imagine paying 51%!!

kingkarl 136 Report post Posted December 16, 2008 Haha thats hilarious. Sad to think people like that actually exist. Even if she was Cameron Diaz, if she was just in it for the money, there's no way I'd marry her for the long run. I'm shallow, but not that shallow. $89848 before tax Difference of $26248 after tax i earn $x amount before tax Find $x Using tax brackets and rates as of 1/10/08 Your net income is $48,602. After ACC has taken their 1.4% cut (going up soon) you are left with $47,711.6 for the year ended 31 March 2009 Your income to 31 March 2008 be $47,526 Net. and with an ACC levy of %1.3 that gives you $46,908 total. I have waaaaay too much spare time in the school holidays.

laadeelaa 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2008 The girl in the article sounds like what my mother told me to be like. "If you're going to marry a man, make sure he is financially stable, has wealthy parents and a good job with a decent large income, otherwise you'll have a crap life like mine after I married your father." Haha. Thanks Mum. Advice taken.
