WTB: e30 Aftermarket Shocks

Recommended Posts

I'm after a set of replacement shocks for the e30 as i have a set of new H&R's and want to replace them both at the same time. I'm looking for something that will complement the H&R's and is stiffer than the factory MS shocks.

I was thinking a set of 2nd hand Koni's or Bilsteins as new is more than what i want to spend. I'm not too clued up on prices but if you have something that may be of interest let me know.

Cheers

The shocks on the m325i from factory were Bilsteins or Boge turbos. Why don't you have them rebuilt and revalved for the H&R's? Will cost you less than new shocks, but will be better than new as they will be valved for your setup.

Oh really? I was not aware of that. Its for a 318is and i was under the impression the two shared the same suspension setup am i correct in this?

They're not really going to be stiffer than his current shocks though.

They are nz distributors for Powerflex urethane bushes which are excellent quality.

Prices a year ago were:

PFF5-301 Front Control Arm bushes ( 2 per car ) $48.00 + GST each x 2 = $96.00 + GST = $108.00

PFF5-302-19 Front sway bar bushes ( 2 per car ) $39.00 + GST each x 2 = $78.00 + GST = $87.75

PFR5-305 Rear subframe (2 per car ) $81.00 + GST each x 2 = $162.00 + GST = $182.25

PFR5-306 Rear Control Arm ( 4 per car- 2 x inner 2 x outer) $57.00 + GST each x 4 = $228.00 + GST = $256.50

PFR5-308-12 Rear sway bar ( 2 per car ) $39.00 + GST each x 2 = $78.00 + GST = $87.50

PFR5-300 Diff ( 1 per car ) $60.00 + GST = $67.50

So a bit of a mixed bag there as to who is cheapest.

I still have my Bilsteins available. $150 plus postage. I'd plan to have them rebuilt at some stage, but will be fine for a start to get you going. They work and no leaks, just should be firmer IMO.

I would of been all other them except for the fact i don't really want to have to do a re-build of them even if it would be cheaper as it means time without car + more expenses. Thanks you tho.
