martyyn 2 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 It does look tidy. Seeing as I know absolutely nothing about lexus v8's can someone explain what this swap would bring to the party over and above a decent 535is for example ? I assume it would be faster otherwise it wouldnt be done, but is it a great deal faster or more torque or what?
*Glenn* 855 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) The motors are strong and torquey, and they dont weigh as much as a BMW M60/M62. Cost less to buy and dont require as much electrical work when doing the conversion. Edited March 10, 2009 by *Glenn*
CamB 48 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) Agree with Glenn. Also fuel economy. Almost everything is better with a Lexus V8 - purity be damned. Edited March 10, 2009 by CamB
Apex 693 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 That looks hot! I like. Gives me an idea for a conversion..
pjay 8 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 IMO the 1UZ is one of the greatest engines ever developed. Very popular choice for a V8 swap. And those W57/8's are damn near bulletproof. Its a perfectly mated setup. 1UZ + W57/8. Tried and tested. And now graces a 5er. iLike
Apex 693 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Unfortunately the gear box cost twice the engine. This car is a relative bargain depending on how you look at it.. does make me wonder why you wouldn’t just adapt a 5-speed to a BMW V8.
bravo 35 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Crap. I would have bought that a month ago. Dead cert. ah well.

Apex 693 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 X3. Would buy it and throw that nice red leather Brent had up for sale in her!! Awesomeness. How hard would this be to do to a E39.

Alot harder and very, very expensive because of the body electrics. E34 not a problem

pjay 8 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Depending on year see below: The 4.0 L (3,968 cc/242.1 cu in) all-alloy 1UZ-FE debuted in 1989 with 10:1 compression, power output is 191 kW (256 hp), torque of 353 N·m (260 ft·lbf). The engine was slightly revised in 1995 with lighter connecting rods and pistons and an increased compression ratio to 10.4:1 resulting in peak power of 195 kW (261 hp) and torque of 363 N·m (268 lb·ft). In 1997, Toyota's VVT-i variable valve timing technology was introduced along with a further CR increase to 10.5:1 bumping power and torque to 216 kW (290 hp) and 407 N·m (300 ft·lbf). In the GS400 application, output was rated at 300hp and 310 ft-lb of torque. The 1UZ-FE was voted to the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1998 through 2000.
