3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 Don't go soft on me now guys. If you're going to list no reserve auctions, at least have the balls to go thru with them. Two things I hate about trademe, people who do this, and people who pull auctions after the reserve's been met. Agreed! Cant stand how a vehicle meets reserve, gets within and hour of finishing, then is pulled by the seller

3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 Pot kettle What are you refering to there Pjay?
pjay 8 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 Id like to see some of you jokers sell your prized possessions for well under value without having a moan. For teh record, The winning bidder struck a deal with Kris that if the car didn't reach over 10k, the audio would be stripped and sold. So the car is being stripped over the weekend of all audio and sold for an agreed price. The end result is the the wagon will become more functional, it'll be back again on trademe later this month. Someone buy it and convert to a drift wagon.. Sick
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 So why list as a $1 auction in the first place if he had no intention of going thru with it? It's wrong.
3 SERIES 93 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 So why list as a $1 auction in the first place if he had no intention of going thru with it? It's wrong. Agreed.......Again! Pot kettle implies that someone here has done the same thing.....listed their car for $1 reserve and pulled. I think Pjay has used the wrong term in this case as I assume no one here has done such a thing?
pjay 8 Report post Posted April 7, 2009 I think you all completely missed the point, but hey. If Trademe is your bible, good for you.
Playloud 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) *sigh* I had all intention of going through with the $1 res - and at the end of the day, I've done no wrong (?). The winning bidder approached me during one of the weekend 'displays' and presented his offer on the audio gear alone. A deal was struck, being I kept the stripped car for a set X amount while the amount he paid for the gear was his bid minus X. His limit being 10k. If he had not been the winning bid of the auction the complete package would have gone to the winner. That being said. Expect a rapid cossie wagon on TM in the near future. Kris. pjay 8 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 Was just reading up on the engine and wow, listen to this! The Rev Hard drag racing team use a YB engine in their Escort Cosworth car that develops 1,100 bhp (820 kW; 1,115 PS) whilst still retaining the original 2 litre capacity. bravo 35 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 I guess it's how you spin it... On the one hand, that sounds reasonable, on the other - the second to top bidder would be pissed off knowing that it didn't matter how much they bid, unless they bid over $10k you were keeping the car and flicking the audio - pre-arranged. A $10k reserve would have been more fair, and if it didn't hit reserve, then you sell the audio to Mr. X. You want as much for your car as possible, and that's great, but people bid on no-reserve auctions in good faith, the vendor should act accordingly. martyyn 2 Report post Posted April 8, 2009 So why list as a $1 auction in the first place if he had no intention of going thru with it? It's wrong. What he said. If he doesnt want to sell it for a pittance, dont put it on $1 reserve, basic econ101 mate.Im not exactly sure how you can defend it Pjay.
Young Thrash Driver 1020 Report post Posted April 9, 2009 Doesn't appeal to me all that much to be quite honest. 500hp out of a four pot engine would be really achieving something, having said that i can't imagine it being reliable (at all). Bollocks! Tomorrow night, go out on the town and talk to all the Honda boys. You will be reliably informed at least 30 times that their DC2 Type R's are putting out at least 10million horsepower at the wheels, pull slightly less harder than the Space Shuttle (or maybe themselves....) and will comfortably outrun a Bugatti Veyron:rolleyes:

Auctions are a commitment, and if you're not willing to make that commitment then list a classified.
