Being an Aussie myself.. I'm pretty sure if I looked hard enough on the web I'd find a photo the explains why Kiwi sheep farmers wear long, loose fitting gumboots too!!... But that'd be lowering myself to you level..

On this theme, several (read many) years ago I was on the Gold Coast on holiday and went to one of the wildlife parks where they had a kangaroo enclosure. You could drop a coin in a machine and it would give you a little bag of pellets to hand feed the roos with.

There was a little girl of about 6 with her parents who was trying very nicely to feed one of the does. She had her handful shoved right in it's face and was asking "Mummy why isn't she hungry?"

Mum and Dad were trying very hard not to cry laughing because the doe had gritted her teeth as she was getting rather forcefully pounded from behind by one of the big stags. I think I've got a photo somewhere - from the pre-digital age unfortunately ;)

That was my lasting memory of Aussie wildlife parks - rootin' Roos everywhere

Two outback Australians are walking home from the pub one afternoon along a long lonely road. As they're passing some farmland they notice a sheep stuck halfway through the fence, struggling to get free.

The first one says to his mate "Strewth Bruce, I weesh eet was that Ellee MacPherson stuck een that fence"

Bruce replied "Cobber, I just weesh eet was dark"
