far4ngn 14 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 This has been the latest summer project to help me get over my BMW fetish, it's a car originally started by a Brendon Dixon on VASK and I'm slowly finishing the work he started. It's a 1987 Golf GTI 16v, non power steering, manual windows etc, BBS Ra's, debadged and delocked boot, just done 134,000 miles. Imported from the UK in 1988. I'm just finished refitting all the trim with OEM screws, fixed the central locking etc and because I'm anal I've been swapping out any worn parts for newer items. I need to finish the final touches to my false boot floor and source and fit OEM stereo speakers and then find some early arches, so I don't need to refit the side trim. far4ngn 14 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) Most of the praise should be for the previous owner, he did all the real work It may need to be sold yet as the wife's grandad is terminaly ill and she's wanting to head back to the UK, so she see's this as an available money pot Edited April 26, 2009 by far4ngn

far4ngn 14 Report post Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) The car feels much faster than my E30 318is and E30 325i, but probably because its very raw and has a hard ride...but the exhaust continually gurgles and accelaration is quick with a lightened flywheel...although it's very much back to basics over the BMW's. Personally, build quality isn't as good and secondhand parts are difficult to find here in NZ, but its great fun to drive.
