Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Hey everyone, I'm having to go to the UK next week for family reasons. I have a manual 535 that I will be reshelling and freshening up. Are there any parts I should consider getting while I am over there? e.g. bushes, consumables like brakes/ filters/ clutches, rare OEM parts, performance parts, etc? I'm figuring consumables aren't a go (similar price and too heavy), but it pays to ask... Any suggestions would be much appreciated- cheers! Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Brent and Marty- Jeez guys, I have two weeks! lol Talking of which, I'm still going ahead with the reshell (obviously! lol), but keeping to a budget at the mo, so it will be a while still... Marty, I can ask my brother in law about Beemer parts and if he knows anywhere that has or sell them. Headers eh? Hmmm don't think I'll get them through as carry on! lol Penry/ Kiwi39touring- will have a look around, but mines a motorsport one- already have an Mtech1 steering wheel and M5 bodykit 8) Need to check the anti roll bars though... Seriously, I was already figuring Powerflex bushes (http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=23620)- 174GBP on eBay... And I'll get some pitman arms too- cheers bellicose! I wouldn't mind some decent angel eyes and rear lights, but they may have to wait... would rather get my car on the road first, and bling can wait. Cheers guys, keep 'em coming! Creaver 55 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 I got my dogbones for $30 each from Autolign. So you're saving what? $12 in total? haha
Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted July 1, 2009 Bellicose- lol re: angel eyes- I'm in two minds about them TBH, but depends on the car and its overall look I guess. You certainly couldn't stick them on a stock 5-er, but with a kit and lowered...? It's on the 'to look at' list... definitely getting some decent rear lights and clear indicators though! Creaver- saving $12 + shipping Hey, just getting options- I'll be getting NZ prices beforehand too! Kiwi535- dunno, mine looks similar to yours, although in not nearly as good a nick... will check tomorrow. OEM mats or a particular firm? I know I need mats for my car, so will have a look. Just checked price for headers on fritzsbits- 430gbp is a bit out of my budget at the mo... maybe next year! lol Definitely thinking bushes, maybe mats, rear lights if I can get a good price, possibly an M5 plate surround for the boot... keeping on looking- ebay for ideas at the mo! Sick Puppy 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Alas, here in the UK, and spent my time with family rather than buying stuff for Beemer- not enought time to source bushes lol Don't really care at the mo- family is more important. Having said that, can anyone recommend any good shipping companies for UK - NZ? I know Brent has shipped/ is shipping stuff already, anyone used any companies over here? I'm getting the beginnings of an idea, need to know if it's feasible... cheers!
E30 325i Rag-Top 2956 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) Avoid Anglo Pacific like the plague, bunch of idiots with no idea of customer service, did my first shipment, luckily I know a little about freight forwarding! Brought my car and second container out with Allied Pickfords, more a removals company, but did a good job with my car and our stuff! Edit: remembered the name of the company! martyyn 2 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) If you want to see what Anglo Pacific do, try a search on me to see what they did to my 7. The posts will be a few years old now. Its not pretty and you wont want to go anywhere near them after seeing the photos.
