Recommended Posts

Well I learnt something today! Only 11 2 door touring chassis' ever made! Flip.

I heart tourings.

David. You're not mad. Just slightly ambiguous. ^_^

If you do it. Good luck.

Very much jealous!

Oh fail. Too early in the day.

Ambiguous.

1. open to or having several possible meanings or interpretations; equivocal: an ambiguous answer.

Yupp. It's not that. Sorry.

*Sigh, Women.

Thanks Jon.

It's just that sometimes even I don't know whether I'm coming or going.

So, now I'm thinking maybe coupe body with the roof extended back using a 4 door cut roof, joining it just behind the B pillar?

you would need to really lay down some stregthening over the rear tower mount area as you would be getting rid of the parcel tray area. Maybe something like a reinforced hoop? to add the stiffness back into that area..

Unless your making it a racecar and it would be caged and braced... thinking like the btcc 850 estate...

money vs benefit might not be great, but it sure is different!

DRTDVL, there's no rear parcel tray in a touring

I'm not that fussed on the tourings - they're noisier than a coupe due to extra bits and pieces out back too which is a pain

Bahahah go Foxy. If it hasn't been said already, the crowd that was doing them back in the day were using mk1 golf rear hatches.

Ya i know, but i would guess their is some extra reinforcement in the roof/sides in that part of the car...

X2. Gotta go the two door, looks way betterer.

Would defiantly need chassis strengthening, mine flexes harder than a body builder, but you have already mentioned a cage, with the pillar removed it will add a sh*t load of stiffness right there!

As “the Gus†sais they are noisier than a Sedan as they are essentially a large box, you get the diff and rear tyre noise coupled with the rear pods retelling around a bit.. but im guessing this isn’t going to be a daily… and if it is just install a f**k off stereo, I hear nothing but sweet sweet music.

All pipe dreams for now anyways.

How about ripping up the carpet and underlay and laying down some dynamat or something along those lines?

I've heard a few cars with dynamat and it' cuts the noise down considerablely...

What will be will be. I'll just look harder at a coupe conversion if it goes much higher.
