Driftit 2078 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) Its a fad you will get bored of it after a few months. Unless your extremely good or have parties every other weekend. Got so many mates who wasted money on their own gear. Should add that they sucked. And realized this themselves after a few months. lol. steve R 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) My brothers a dj, all he seams to do is sit on the net downloading songs and spending hundreds of $$$ on the lastest tunes. I have heaps of mates that are into it aswell, some play out others dont. Alot of that aspect comes down to who you know. Practice makes perfect... You will need alot of it to be better than the thousands of other djs in auckland. Edited July 22, 2009 by Mobbin

togate 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) yeah well offcourse theres gonna be oldschool Dj's out there. I just meant it has recently become very popular from what I have noticed (as all my mates, and mates friends are trying to get into it), especially with the growing popularity in mainstream electronic music today. steve R 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 I have a mate that dabbles in a bit of producing. look up Mt Eden DnB on youtube. My brother also recently bought logic pro and keyboard etc, so is getting into that side of things aswell.
DRTDVL 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2009 Togate... Thats what i'm refering to also... 10yrs ago 1/2 my friends thought that they would give it a go.... Its nothing new just your friends have hit the fad... only 1 maybe 2 of my friends still dj's... Town (auckland) is nothing like what it was 10 yrs ago... there was easy 3 times the number of people out and about... and i'll say 2-3 times the number of clubs... clubs not bars... Yeah its true, everyone wants to be a dj these days, but I only ever known one person who actually produces there own stuff and djs. Luke Walker from Manurewa. Made it onto a ministry of sound album with a track he made in his egg carton sound booth. Edited July 22, 2009 by 323e30

Its good to see some DJ's getting into producing and playing their own work, I am currently setting myself up to play a more live set with ableton, synthesizers etc instead of the standard cdj/mixer setup. (Hybrid) - what gear do you guys use when playing live if you dont mind sharing? Edited July 22, 2009 by Togate
