jjs 64 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 9 - Mazda MX-5. Seriously!!!! Yep. Have you ever driven one? I would love to own one - but if only I wouldn't look like such a fag when driving it! When the hard top depreciates a bit I will seriously consider buying one, but will need some dark tint on the windows... As for the rest of the list, once you get outside the top 20 it is pretty arbitray. The list is (as to be expected) very Brit focussed.
Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted August 27, 2009 interesting to note many of the top 20 have been either long termers or owned by the Evo staff. My favourite mag, I have ever issue from 65.
Braeden320 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 9 - Mazda MX-5. Seriously!!!! We have a 98 MX5, 6spd manual, 1800cc.My partner mainly drives it on the weekend, I just jump in it for some funnow and again. I admit I feel a bit strange driving it but in all honesty in sticks like sh*t to a blanket and goes very, very well. Looks aside, Take one for a decent drive and you will be surprised!Gives cars with twice its power a run for there money on a decent bit of road.Dont knock it till you have tried it as they say. Massive bang for buck.

brockie123 31 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 seems pretty fair in my opinion.. maybe put the e30 m3 closer to the top.. i dunno if it is me but e30's are not only so awesome looking but (not the best car) but the funnest car i have ever driven. i have driven pretty much every factory bmw that would go through a dealership and by far the most fun is the e30. glad it was the top of all the other bmw's.. i'm pretty biased though. that's probaly because i just went for a hoon in mine and i'm pretty happy. sorry to rant. my_e36 43 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 erm... where's the Honda S2000, could be in place of the Elan or the MX5 Why is the R33 GTR on but not the R34 or even the R35? NSX is on there twice (Type-R and normal) That said, I would love to drive at least 10 of any car on this list.
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 Some nice cars on that list. But don't agree with many of them. I think they have a Frog working for their list creation team though.
c.robertson00 11 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 I would have thought a Caterham and an Ariel Atom would be more fun to drive than any of the others on the list. A Zonda in 1st place??? WTF?
Grant 4 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 . A Zonda in 1st place??? WTF?Driven one?I would imagine that they would be pretty good fun. I do find it funny how many people on here agree/disagree with the list when they wouldn't have driven a vast majority of the cars on the list

And I was a as sceptical as anyone else when I read about how god the R26 was, im telling you Renault know how to make a car.. Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 Driving an E30 afterwards feels like it’s constructed out of ply wood and half asleep. Quoted for eternity. Take that back! Jokes there is a pearlecent yellow one round here with the F1 stripes near me, it looks goregous and sounds even better, happy to say I am a definite fan. Now, to convince Dad to replace one of the Focuses with one
fuzyfrog 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 The S2000 instead of the MX5 or Elan.... This is Top Drivers cars.... Great to see the 205 where it deserves to be. Having owned one it makes sense. Not so sure about number 1 but ive never been in a Zonda so i have no idea. Been in 7 of the top 10 though

I would have the Caterham. But thats just my opinion.
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 Nissan GT-R over the m3's ?? wtf Most people agree the GTR is awesome but far from a 'drivers' car. Its does everything for you. I would of thought the definition of a drivers car was something that brings lots of enjoyment when driven enthusiastically. Ford Sierra Cosworth at #97 ???? Renault Clio V6 at # 25???? erm .. over some of the others on that list ? maybe the title should be EVO mag UK - Top 100 Drivers Cars as voted by joe public! Apex 693 Report post Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) Renault Clio V6 as in the mid engine sports car thinly disguised as a hatchback.. Ids believe it’s a good drive. Haven’t driven most of the cars on that list but their team has, im thinking them a better judge than us. Had a BMW made the top ten you lot would be loving the list Lol at fan boys. What do you expect. Your on a BMW site remember. You wouldn't be so happy if you pretty much unknown in NZ frog mobile had not been included. I am starting to think this list is nothing more than a public voted one. There is cars in there that have superior models. Good example of this is the Evo 6.5. The Evo 8 and 9 are far superior in every way. Yet still drive just like the older Evo's. The R33 GTR. Worst of the bunch. It is all personal preference. There is many FWD cars on there. I would never vote for any FWD car as a drivers car. They are nothing but Yawn in my books no matter how fast they are.

If you had have told me that a FWD isn’t a driver’s car last year I would have agreed with you, hell I would have been your vice president on the campaign stating they are for girls and people scared of oversteer but after my late discovery of French cars I have to disagree. I don’t understand the R33 being in there either, it’s better than the R32 but pales in comparison to the R34.

They are nothing but Yawn in my books no matter how fast they are. Yawn mobiles? It really depends on what you want from a car... I call it the jermey clarkson syndrome... Everyone wants to be going sideways in clouds of smoke, because that what makes a car fun... my personal preferance is none of that... i'm not interested in burnouts, donuts, drag racing (unless top level stuff)... to me it's all about getting from a to b very very quickly... So what i consider a good car is very different than a drifter/clarkson type person. there are many fwd cars that will excel in the style of driving i like, and things like changing direction and ability to carry speed through a corner mean more to me than being able to do 700kph but 20kph through a corner... i take it you haven't pushed an above mentioned fwd car? Really comes down to what makes a drivers car??? It doesn't have to be fast, the best, or anything... just driving pleasure... they are trying to cater to a large varity of drivers... It would be interesting to see the scoring guide that they used. the fwd = crap handling mentality really needs to be changed... espically when you look at what the old super 2000 rally cars where doing on tarmac compared to the wrc cars at the time. i personally think clarkson is the WORST thing to happen to the automotive world in a long time... corner speed sorts the men from the boys, not straight line speed... I don't think its a mentallity that FWD cars are crap at handling, just that its a FWD and its not a RWD and not as fun. Not so much a whos quicker blah blah. Anyways, back on topic Would be interested to see where the stats came from.
