** URGENT ** Coolant Leak E30

Recommended Posts

So now my other E30 has an issue, so I now have 2 broken E30's and no reliable transport to get to work tomorrow.

Anyone know if there's a quick fix for this problem showing in my video?

I was stuck out at Rolleston today with it like this *happened on the way there*, I drove home with the radiator cap undone to relieve some pressure, however by Templeton the Coolant light was on again and had to fill it up 2 more times to get home to New Brighton.

Video shows leak with Radiator cap on tight to show location of the leak, (after engine turned off even)

You could always, as a last resort, cover it in sealant of some sort, would stop or it or atleast reduce it to a weep rather than how it is at the moment, limp it to get it fixed and keep big bottle of water in ya car

Thanks man,

I doubt there's anyone open now, but I'll grab some tomorrow and see how it goes.

Even a petrol station might have some.

Cool, so I got some Selleys Instant gasket, have used it and am putting it back together, however it says that it takes 24hours to cure, doh I'll be off to work in 12 hours lol

Bypass it.

You can connect the hose directly from the block to the thermostat housing, by stretching one of those hoses instead of having thermostat housing -> throttlebody. throttlebody -> thermostat housing.

It's pointlessly there really...

Today a cork gasket and metal cover arrived that I ordered from the net.

Do I need to use sealant with the cork gasket on this outlet?

Cheers.

A small amount and dont overtighten it or the cork will split. Make sure both sides of the housings are perfectly cleaned
