shadowninja 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 Personally for $10k I would stay well away from anything turbocharged especially something like an RS legacy. Scrounge for a decent VW Golf GTi, something fun but still has some practical value. The question doesn't specify if this is for a daily driver, or as a 2nd car etc.

bravo 35 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 sh*t almost forgot the MR-2. Test drove several when looking for a new car. Settled on the bimmer, but only because for that particular amount of money, the bimmer was a better car. They drive great, and look good too - only two seats tho and I am my friends' taxi, so that was another turn-off.
nath 134 Report post Posted January 18, 2005 Ollie, im down with the 944 too, they are fukn brilliant cars- i know the 924 was designed to be an audi, but that doesnt make it, or a 944 any slower, or better handling!!

The 924 was designed and built by Porsche but was intended to be sold as a Volkswagen, but they rejected it, so Porsche badged it as their own and sold it.Cheers

Juzzie Wuzzie 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2005 For $10k - anything Japanese and reliable. The Isuzu for me was a godsend as never failed me - just sold it for $7k to a friend (she got a great deal given the stereo equipment in it, plus the topline Dynatron alarm, turbo timer, etc). But have run out of garage space, so the car needs to go. Rats! But for $10k .... Isuzu MU, VW Golf of some description, Fiat Bambina ....
bravo 35 Report post Posted January 20, 2005 You were lucky then - the Mu's are notorious for trouble - rust, engine probs and the turbos sh*t themselves. Some model turbos you can recond, but others, its a whole new turbo baby! Reliability? - non existant. I wanted one, but did my homework first. A friend of mine bought one anyway - and it looked really good - but had to sell it in the end as we could see the potential for disaster as little things started to show up. I am glad yours was a good one, but I personally wouldn't take the risk.

Napier_E36 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2005 but i get sh!t loads of wierd looks driving a bmw Haha ... i get that everyday ... But man, I assure you, Evan gets the funny looks for a hell of a lot more sinister reason...I can honestly say, I would be going for an R32 skyline or buying a Cefiro or a Laurel, finding a rolled bowled and assholed GTS-T and transfering the running gear with S14 front brakes, and you would have a primo skid car (and probably enough change for a good set of coilovers)
Guest WAGON Report post Posted January 23, 2005 what reason is that blair?
Viking 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2005 GTS-T, although I have seen Caldina GT-4's for $13k, so I'd just wait for another $3k and get one of those.
