BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Happy birthday Brent! About time you shouted yourself another track day. Had the 545 around the 'Downs' yet? thanks guys , yes had the 545 aorund hamptons , and every time it keeps killing my car , first time . blew the head gasget in my 25year old 250,000km m5 engine . after 1.5 sessons but managed to get some good lap times also have some good video footage if i can figure out how to get the digital footage on to my pc so i can upload it to you tube etc so did a quick engine swap (4days work) with another one i got from anaother m745i with 125,000km . went out a week latter with the new engine in and did another 1.5 sessions then one of the old frost plugs started to leak , so called it quites and went home. went out again last week after fixing the frost plugs and the second engine now has a blown head gasget (blowing water right outside the block) . (donar car had been sitting around for about 4-5 years with rusty water in it etc) so in it goes to a garage , to get the head removed have taken the head off the original engine and dropped that in to a cylinder head shop to get a good going over . have ordered a head gasget set out of the states . so will be interesting to see what the other head is like when we remove it . thanks again for the birthday wishes . Hope you get the S38's sorted without too many hassles yea been a bit of a hassle and a lot of $$$ but will get it sorted and make it better . its a M88/3 ,which is the euro spec with single row chain , higher proformance pistons ,and cams etc. also looking at doing up the old engine with a stroker kit , cams etc etc would love a m88/2 though (who knows what that is??)
