str8_6 275 Report post Posted January 20, 2010 Hi All, What's a good price to pay for a E30 engine fan clutch? Have recently done a coolant flush, changed thermostat but still the temp gauge slowly moves past centre up to 3/4 when idling or in slow moving traffic. Moves back down to centre once on the move again. Car is a 1986 325i without aircon. Will try the rolled up newspaper test tomorrow. Cheers

Greg111 13 Report post Posted January 20, 2010 Note could also be the waterpump, if the fins are corroded to nearly nothing you will get it overheating when idling then when driving (revving) the temp goes back down, worked on a few cars where this was the problem. Just a thought.
