fuzyfrog 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Any one done it in NZ/CHCH ? I know the 1UZ swap has been done. I need more power and this is looking a better option than an turbo on my
CamB 48 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Really? They're kinda expensive by the time you factor in a gearbox. I'm all for it, but then again its not my money or time. Its going to have the same issues to overcome as a 1UZ swap.
*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 I've seen it done on heaps of American & Aussie forums... nearly went down that track too before doing my car
BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 turbo or super charger is probably better in the long run . power to weight etc
fuzyfrog 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 LS1 weigh less than the M50. I would love to turbo it but im struggling to find somewhere in CHCH who will do it. I want 400HP give or take so im open to other options and ideas. NO rotary's and I thought about a 2JZ but they are getting harder to source
Greg111 13 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 M50 supercharged, power all through the rev range, keep it at a low 5-7psi so no need to strengthen the motor and still get quite a bit of boogie.
Palazzo 476 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 1UZ with the Eaton Supercharger that was on TM a while back.

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 just be carfull you will spend a lot of money doing that type of conversion and the car will be worth less than what you put in if you use a non bmw engine . why not sell it and buy a M3 then super charge it if you not happy with the power of it . super charger kits are readily availible and easy to fit and pull off when you sell the car etc
fuzyfrog 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 I have thought about selling it and upgrading to an M3. Shouldn't have a problem selling a Manual Coupe. Just got a company car so I have alot of decisions to make on what to do with the bimmer.

I will PM you asap if i make my mind up I'm guessing you found this in your travels: Vorshlag LSx Swap Parts Might find the Headers & steering parts don't fit (LHD Vs RHD). But at least the engine can be "bolted in" easily off the shelf, then it's a bit of plumbing & wiring. One of the cheaper LS1's around
fuzyfrog 0 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Yeah I had a good look at the Vorshlag site. Have fired them an email in regards to what will not fit on the RHD car.
