antony 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2010 The worst thing, what are the chances of this car staying in New Zealand? I think I'd double that mileage pretty quickly, cant believe someone would own a car like this and put so few miles on it.
Guest Simon* Report post Posted April 14, 2010 Wow I'd heard stories about some of the collection down at hoffman's. Passed through on the weekend actually and took a long look at the place wondering what was hidden inside. Surely Ford (perhaps not Ford NZ) should buy it back. What a showpiece! I think it is a safe bet that they disconnect the speedo cable and take it for the odd spin..........
AN E30 Fan 1 Report post Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) The worst thing, what are the chances of this car staying in New Zealand? Almost zero I would say, I am suprised that there is even one in New Zealand. I love these cars and definetly up there in the Top 3 Fords I would own. So much 80's coolness about it, god I love the tacky red steering wheel. Weren't they selling a RS500 Ford not long ago? That thing was mint too, does Hoffman Ford own/owned these cars in a private collection that they have? Edit: Group B rally was so awesome, Lancia O37, Audi Quattro, This, Lancia Delta Intergrale. Interesting fact, Stig Blomquist who use to drive the Audi Quattro and World Rally Champ in 1984 now lives in NZ, his sons do karting and I use to go to school with them. Neil owns them from what he told me...and Trevor tells me too. Old mate Hoffman does however have quite an epic car collection, I went to school with his daughter [makes me nearly famous!] He does have a neat GT.350 or two.... dirtydoogle 383 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 Ditto!! The best sounding by far! Still miss the car I had -even though non turboI've driven the 5sgt, 5egt and quattro coupe, but not a Quattro turbo sadly. The 5cyl noise is to die for. A mate had an 85 5e in silver and we made a straight through with just a cooper muffler for it. Sounded amazing! I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a decent one, couldn't care less if it was a 5e or a 5s either. Although the 5e are nicer.
Parabolica 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2010 Seen this car in the flesh with Philip Hoffman. As good as you will find anywhere of course! Also had a couple of Twin Cam Mk1 Escorts and an RS1600 + a Mexico and a no expense spared RS2000 racecar. All bought because "i couldnt not buy it"
