Where are you looking to buy pads from? Do you know of a good place?

1144 for the odd track day. 1166 are a hotter pad a don't work unless they have been warmed up, i wouldn't like them on a daily driver. I like the mintex pads but where are you getting them and how much are you paying?

I had the 1166's in my old Nissan and daily drove it for about 8 months.

Pad's worked fine when cold and AMAZING when hot. Mind you I was using them on 4pots.

Got mine from Racebrakes along with some braided lines, but you could probably find them overseas for cheaper?

From memory it was around $400?

/edit - Can't compare to the 1144's as I've never used them sorry.

You can’t really compare but I have the 1166 in the Renault and they didn’t go off the whole day at either Pukekohe, Hampton or Taupo, they do wear quite fast though and make a lot of noise on the road, had had no problems with cold braking on the road.

The Touring had EBC red stuff which I found to be very good, never had them overheating and they put out bugger all dust.

I thought the series cars had to run EBC?

Nope, EBC is a voluntary sponsor. If you run their pads you have to run their decals, but you do not have to run their pads if you choose not to ;)

Ahhh that's how it works. The EBC were near $300 from memory, they do work well and are fine for a E30 IMHO.

Bought some Mintex 1166's, Cost $270 and also bought some decent brake fluid while I was at it.

Bring on the track day :)
