deeveus 81 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Fark! I felt it good here in Dunedin, woke me up. Wife slept through the whole thing hahah. First thing I went and did was check the X5 to see that no tools had fallen on her. Hope everyone in CHCH is ok, no deaths reported yet. Probably a good thing that if it was going to happen it happened at the time it did. If it had been midday in the city people will have died from the falling buildings. Jeddy 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 I haven't been into the central city, but driving through the 'burbs I saw quite a few collapsed chimneys and a few rooves. Both the chimneys in my flat have collapsed and glass everywhere.

Grant 4 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 The initial reports I have read have indicated that there are only minor injuries to date. I hope that remains the case.
kingkarl 136 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 Holy sh*t. Indeed I hope there are no casualties. Hopefully it doesn't take tooooooo long to repair the major damage. Might be a good time to start up a building company. Insurance companies will be shitting bricks . Thanks for the photos Jack.
Gaz 1060 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 Some places are worse than others. Everything at my flat is fine and we got power. Just spoke to my flatmate who was at her boyfriends in Opawa and there is buildings are stuff everywhere. To make it worse, her boyfriends Dad died last night, non Earthquake related. Grant 4 Report post Posted September 3, 2010 The earthquake is the lead item on the news here. THe news here makes it sound worse than the news in NZ does (but that is pretty typical for the US media outlets who tend to make things out to be worse than they really are)
