matt45 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 Don't know how long they're staying apparently unwarrantable. Can't drive it at night (forbidden by parents) All good though, means I get Dad's car to take to work! Where'd u get them from?
Tristan 338 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 Where'd u get them from? eBay shiped from Hong Kong - They said they are universal fit. f**king scammers! Refund.
Smac01 12 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 What brand are they? The Depo ones I have for my E36 have a switch inside the housing which flips the beam scatter from LHD to RHD. (That means they're 'universal') So can go from: __/ __/ To: \__ \__ Hopefully yours are the same??
nickchin1308 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 Definately looks much better! Guts man about the WOF but as long u can drive ur Dads car that looks sweeet as
Smac01 12 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) It's a metal pin you can flip up/down inside by the projector part. It's beside the bulb housing. There was also a sticker on the headlight explaining it. What brand are yours? You should take a photo of the headlight beam (like by parking the car a few metres from a wall or garage door) Good luck! Edit: Read this about OEM headlights http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e5...-lhd-roads.html Edited December 4, 2010 by brunch
hybrid 1044 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 or if they're missing the switch .. you always just open them up and swap the sidewalk flare mask from light to the other.. you may need to shape them to fit the oppersite headlight but i did my e46 ones with a jar/tin car to bend them. (thats if theyre the curved type mask) If its a flat mask even better! Just be very careful when openening up the lights as the plastic stalks and locators can break .. no biggie tho. Tristan 338 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Mine are DEPO. Edit: Dashing to the supermarket. Will take photos afterwards, there seems to be a lot of adjustment there so I'll have a play this afternoon. Unfortunately my only wall is down a driveway which is incredibly difficult to get back up as the wheels spin haha but I'll sort it! Anyone got link to NZTA regulations for beam scatter? And where its meant to be aimed etc? Edited December 4, 2010 by Tristan
Smac01 12 Report post Posted December 5, 2010 The easiest thing to do will be get one off your car. There should be a metal lever inside the housing next to the bulb holder..... (if they're adjustable) Mine are DEPO. Edit: Dashing to the supermarket. Will take photos afterwards, there seems to be a lot of adjustment there so I'll have a play this afternoon. My car actually looks like a BMW now I know that they are highly unlike to be the same as the hella ones and that you probably would have noticed this ...but just in case ... on mine there is a black cap on the top of them (looking down on them when they are installed in car) under the black cap is a little metal adjustment lever. Hopefully those ones have something similar.
Tristan 338 Report post Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) There is something but im not sure if it's a cap. Like this? My camera is out of battery so can't put pics up but I drew sorta what it looks like. In any case, the lights still illuminate the road better than the last set but with them being "unwarrantable" and a warning about it from a lighting specialist it's an out for insurance companies. To be honest i have no idea how much adjustment or what kind of adjustment this makes so use with care, noticed it the other day and actually says on the cap of mine "adjustment". Tristan 338 Report post Posted December 5, 2010 I'll have a looksie tomorrow morning, I saw it earlier and tried to take it off but it didn't come easily and I was scared I was breaking something haha.
hybrid 1044 Report post Posted December 5, 2010 Hate to say it but I dont think depo have the same option as OEM lights to switch over ... youll need most likely open them up as I was saying before and switch the masks inside the projector globe from left to right and right to left and modify them. Let me know if you need help, happy to lend a hand if needed.

Tristan 338 Report post Posted December 31, 2010 After my headlight problems I bit the bullet and bought OEM Hella clears for $1200.00 Getting a refund from the eBay seller for unit cost but they can't refund the installation cost which was a bit but oh well. Trying to get the importer to sort something out because the car shouldn't have passed compliance with the lights it came in with. Looks better though Wheels are coming soon. 19"s and will be something different. Think Pjay..
