dirtydoogle 383 Report post Posted November 1, 2010 Could you set up a Yahoo email or something of the sort, hit the "I forgot my password" option on your Hotmail/Gmail accounts and have the password sent to your new account? I'm sure you can do something similar to that..

cliffdunedin 8 Report post Posted November 1, 2010 I have contacted them and they want $75.00 to advise me on how to fix it. They are as bad as the scammers. Explain to them its been hacked and sending your contacts scam-mail and get them to disable/delete the account...a friend had the same thing happen to him but they were sending everyone viagra and drug spam. Only downside is you lose contacts and old e-mails

bravo 35 Report post Posted November 1, 2010 Yep, a colleague got a very similar email from a friend who happened to be overseas at the time. Whilst it sounded obviously like a scam, they replied to be sure. The scammer then replied with a bunch of personal details to "prove" he was who he said he was. Obviously these had been taken from other emails. My colleague came to me for advice. I said scam, but if you're worried ask them something only your friend would know. He never got another reply. They're getting cunning.

Docile 64 Report post Posted November 5, 2010 (edited) sooo i just had to reply. and said "do you still need the money? if so how much?" and he just replied: "Glad you replied back to my email. As I explained to you earlier, phone cables were ripped off and the Hotel's Database was compromised which means no phone calls nor credit card payment. We have nothing left on us and I'm grateful to God that we still have our lives and passport cos it would have been worst if they made away with our passport. well all we need is just $1,750 and you can have it wired to me via Western Union. Here's my info below Receiver's Name: Jason Walsh Location: 30 Leicester Square, WC2H 7LA, London United Kingdom As soon as it is done, kindly get back to me with the confirmation number. Let me know if you are heading to the Western Union outlet now??? Jason..." something wrong with this: 1) this was his only 2nd reply and have never told me that the "phone cables were ripped off" LOL so unlikely. 2) hotel database compromised? LOL!!
