Andre3000 55 Report post Posted May 14, 2011 Looking for some black silicone joiners for piecing my intercooler piping together. Does anyone know of a good place that doesn't charge through the arse? Also as i have no previous exp at all in this field, is there anything i should or should not do? in terms of clamping/welding? Advice would be appreciated. Cheers guys

mlracing 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Use big clamps not small ones or they might blow off the piping
polley 916 Report post Posted May 20, 2011 Just bead the piping, best way to do it.
Yankus 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2011 Place in east tamaki does clamps for them too......BIG clamps, the proper ones not girly little hose clamps.
Andre3000 55 Report post Posted May 23, 2011 sweet info guys, thanks a tonne. Will be fabbing it up next week hopefully, and will post some pics up then! another quick question, is there a recommended wall thickness for the aluminium piping? I was hoping to get between 1.7mm and 2.0mm but is 2.0mm unnecessary? Hoping to blow over 20psi through these eventually.
Yankus 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 Thats alot of boost, hope your not planning on trying to every day drive that thing...... Might need to ring someone who does turbo'ed cars or tuning shops on that one.
polley 916 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 A schedule 40 3" PVC pipe has a minimum burst pressure of 840PSI, and maximum working pressure of 158PSI. I think the aluminium will be fine
dsrturbo 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) 4mm 3 layer silicone joiners will hold 30 psi. If your worried you can lightly put thin ( 5mm ) hose clamps over the silicone bends. This will help them from not blowing out like a tire. 5mm reducers and straights are a bit of an over kill and not need unless you have a 800+BHP car. Also 5 mm fat straights and reducers look very fat on the alloy piping and not such a good look. 3" inlet and 4" inlet Pod Filters and stock K&N Performance Gold Oil Filters for Nissan Silvia S14-S15 SR20DET 1993 - 2001 ( Ryco Coross reference Z158, Z386 ) at a good price Other links - K&N Motorcycle Oil Filter 4 Harley, Honda, Suzuki!
