Where does the M42 sit in relation to the M40 engine

question as per title please! not for me, one of the guys on bimmerfest (US site) wants to know and they dont have M40s over there.

The same place... in front of the gearbox

tell him to look up info on the 318is....plenty of them in USA compared to NZ

They might be yanks, but pretty sure they got that part sorted lol. maybe i wasnt quite clear what they needed to know. see below

obv knows where the M42 goes, but they dont have the M40. just want to know if its mounted any further forward or back than each other if anyone knows.

sits pretty much in the same place as with gearbox just wider due to the twin cam
