Hey I'm New too. I own a BMW 730iL. My 2nd ever car. Got it for my 21st birthday (Thanks to my dad lol)

New love for BMW's now :L

Also another quick question if someone can answer.

I have a 730iL and I see all this e30, e38 blahblah.

What would mine come under? Or is it only called 7 series/730 etc..

different chasis series , see here

e38 7 series models from about 1994 to 2001.

e32 models models from 1986 to 1994 etc

730i 3L engine

740i 4L engine

735i 3.5L engine

750i 5L or 5.4L engine etc

iL means long wheel base model

can help with stereo wiring too .

the registration sticker will have the model year of the car then you will know if its a E38 or whateva

They seem to have the first rego year... my E39 is a 2001 Model (facelift) but was built november 2000... so it says 2000, even though 2001 Models start in september 2000 for BMW. :wacko::blink:

IMO it is correct,its build date is 2000 so it is a 2000 BMW.

Not according to BMW - facelift E39's were all 2001 models. That's what they made them as, and what they come up as in EKTA. So when I look for parts, I have to look for 2001, not 2000, otherwise I'll be looking at an M52TU powered, non facelift car. I'm sure it confuses a lot of people when they go parts hunting. :blink:
