E34 Heater Cores

Recommended Posts

Is there any way, other than ripping into the dash to work out which heater core an E34 uses?

I'm wanting to replace all the O-Rings hoping that will fix my errant coolant smell that I can smell when the heater is in use.

Appears to be a few kinds?!

Pelican Suggests it might have this one?

First one looks easier to replace rings, 3 instead of 5 or so

Might just have to rip into it...

You might find it's the matrix that is leaking and not the "O" rings. You would need to replace the "O" rings anyway. These should be available X the dealer or you can get them from Seal House

After dismantling my E34s interior, I must say the heater matrix is probably one of the hardest things to remove...

Easier to pull an engine or gearbox out!

I've done an E30 Heater Matrix, wasn't fun, but for the E30 it was only the 'rings, Was going to purchase the rings, rip into it and inspect it, if all well I can just throw the new 'rings in and be on my way. Since It's my only working car right now...
